let's be serious, it's just about as good as we're gonna get from noel without liam and without oasis and without expanding the spirit of the music and without pushing the boundaries a bit to make an utter classic that we've come to expect from the boys

this album is fucking solid. keep on denying, if it makes you happy.
he's starting to get in a zone where not a lot of musician are. he should make a complete Neil Young of himself and release an acoustic record, just for the sake of it. does he have the guts? well, we'll have to give him another few years, I guess. could give him a chance to release Just Let It Come Down Over Me, Don't Stop The Happening, If There's A God, and we can be certain he's already got an album worthy.
I do think Chasing Yesterday is underrated by some Oasis fans.

I like it, some parts i dislike, but overall it's good. But lately, I dont listen to it. Overall, HFB 1 had some stronger tunes. at least to me.

I think its definitely overrated by the majority of Noel's hardcore fanbase, but that's to be expected. I definitely had a contact high when it first appeared, but Ive barely listened to it over the last few months. I do like it though and as of now I'd say its in my top ten for this year.
I think its stronger on whole than the debut, but it's ultimately not relevatory or some sort of epiphany. Its just a good album with ghastly cover art.

I think the demo is better. I really hated the demo. When I saw TDOTL would be on the album I was very disappointed. I remember playing the leak, reaching TDOTL and going "ugh alright here we go" and afterwards I had decided it was one of my favourites on the album. It's still my second favourite, right after Ballad Of The Mighty I. Go figure! I was gonna say how tdotl aged badly for me...

Its just a good album with ghastly cover art. At some point there was a meeting and Noel sat everyone down and went: 'Bricks. Different Coloured bricks. Fuckin' Mega' And at the end of the day, that is it.

I still don't get who's overrating it
Nobody's saying it's a masterpiece,but it's a pretty fucking good record

If everyone is saying it's overrated, doesn't that actually make it underrated?

these are the two i am struggling with as well. 'we gathered pearls and swine' may just be the most appalling lyrics to ever appear on a noel g.-penned song, and that's saying something. What would've been brilliant is if he would've sang "we gathered pearls that shine", instead of what he did. It may sound a little Plain Jane, but it uses "shine", which is typical for Noel, and plus it would've presented good imagery. It's from the rolling stones song No Expectations 'we threw pearls at swine' is the lyric that Noel nicked. X ray eyes is kind of like a musical collage of all Noel's influences in one song so it makes sense in context to reference the stones

Also no, it isn't over rated. I'm a huge fan of Beady Eye and HFB but I think oasis kind of lost 'it' after BHN (I love DOYS though) and this is the best collection of songs a Gallagher has released since The Masterplan! The Mexican and X-Ray Eyes would be highlights on most other modern bands albums yet they're weaker tracks on here! I love this album, I'd be very surprised if either Gallagher ever tops this again.
It's the best pop/rock album of the 2010's so far for me, if anything I see it as criminally under rated on here and critically. It's fucking amazing!

I like the singles artwork, the album artwork is dreadful I think it's clever the way he uses it on stage though. The lines come in, his name drops, and BAM, there he is! Just get a shot of him with his guitar and switch it out with the white jacket one, and there's your live DVD cover art.

NGHFB and CY are Oasis albums without the Liam vox. I can't believe Noel decided to go solo for doing the exact same thing but with less fame and status. Miscalculation, I reckon. Both Noel solo albums are far superior to HC and SOTSOG, and perhaps even DBTT and DOYS. Why you no stay with Oasis?

Not having Liam on it is the point, really. I'm not going to say I'm missing Noel's vocals on a Beady Eye album either, am I?

Its certainly not over-rated by the general public and after the initial leak / release the consensus on here is mixed too. Personally, I love it and although I don't listen to it as much as I did, I still really enjoy it whenever I give it a listen.

Because Oasis were always known for pushing boundaries.. TNOR pushed my boundaries; my boundaries of what is and what is not acceptable. Dig Our Yout Soul is the perfect example why Oasis had to end. Noel finally got his mojo back in the songwriting department yet he still had to put unnecessary LAG songs on it. I'm sure that was his final say but it was the wrong choice. In 2008, Oasis were trailing 2-1 and needed the best players in the match. It breaks the heart to see these songs left on the bench. It was a time for heroes. - Come On Outside (aka...Come On It's Alright) - Boy With The Blues - Record Machine - Stop The Clocks The 2nd side to DOYS would have been seriously beefed up if this was the final running order......... Bag It Up The Turning Waiting For The Rapture The Shock of The Lightning I'm Outta Time Come On Outside Falling Down To Be Where There Is Life (Richard Fearless version) I Wanna Live In A Dream In My Record Machine (Liam vocals) Boy With The Blues *************** Hidden Track ******************** Waiting For The Rapture (acoustic demo)

Suggesting STC and Record Machine should've been on DOYS is all good, but don't forget Sardy produced them on HFB, and that Sardy produced DOYS too.

For starters, it's in the wrong key. In all seriousness, there wasn't any need for a choir on Record Machine. I think R'Dave misjudged the vibe of the song.

I think R'Dave misjudged the vibe of the song. I actually quite like the version of Record Machine on HFB. The guitar and vocals aren't as cool, but the strings are great, I always miss them in the Oasis demo version, and I quite like the playground kids noises, a review (I think it was NME) that described it as Noel's own teenage Symphony to God, and I think Sardy's production brings out a Beach Boys vibe in the song. Both versions have great things that the other lacks, I wish there was a version of the Oasis demo with the strings on it. Or with Liam singing. We can dream
