i dont think its overrated, and think its a great album, yet still dont really listen to it all that much for whatever reason Same here, actually. But it's sort of because I know the songs so well and I've been in search of new music lately. But I did listen to it for a solid month or more.

Yes. Plus I find it hilarious that most of the people who used to complain about the negativity 'aimed towards' Beady Eye are now the ones who are doing it to Noel recently (as some kind of petty revenge maybe). Anyways... Bless them Maybe its that people that complained about the negativity 'aimed towards' Beady Eye, like their output more than Noel solo (so no not petty revenge, but their opinion but bless you), Then there's people the who like Noel's solo output more than Beady Eye's (so why they were more negative) Like is said above every one entitled to their opinion? You are right, my revenge comment was stupid, sorry. And I also agree that it's a matter of opinion... So that's okay!

Nope, and critically it's underrated, whereas the first album was a bit overrated.
It's the best Oasis-related release since SOTSOG IMO.

WTSMG is kinda overrated though WTSMG is the best album ever God bless. I fucking love the God bless thing,I should start using it in real life Idk, there's quite a lot of albums out there - I don't think one with Hello, Roll with it, Hey Now, The Swamp Song, and She's Electric can really be the best of them all. It could have been the best album ever if The Masterplan, Rockin' Chair, Acquiesce, Talk Tonight and maybe even Headshrinker were on instead, but as is it's not even the best album that year IMO.

I'm not sure overrated is the right word. It is a great album, superior to his solo debut, and contains better songs and production to some later Oasis albums.
However, it is not by any means 'flawless' or 'perfect'. Songs such as 'Ballad Of The Mighty I' and 'Riverman' are among his best work, but with songs such as 'The Mexican' prevent it from being a masterpiece. As SS said, its an excellent album to listen to as a whole, which for some people (including myself) is the reason they find it so great.
For me, 'The Dying Of The Light' is an over-rated song. I loved the demo, and his recent acoustic renditions, but his album version is lacking something. Everyone was worried he was going to overproduce this song, with big build-ups and orchestras etc, but I find it sincerely underproduced. It should have been given the EOTR-kind of treatment, or even just left acoustic. What we're left with is a flat, in-the-middle sort of production.
Great album, not perfect, but from what I've witnessed on the forum and from critics, not overrated either.

Now seriously, when I first listened to it I loved it and part of my was convinced it was just the excitement for finally having some new music from Noel that made me appreciate it like I did, but three months later I love it even more If you think it's overrated then fine, I find all the negativity that's going on in the section lately a bit annoying, but there are people in this world who think WTSMG is overrated, everybody's got his own opinion I guess WTSMG is kinda overrated though no way. wtsmg is the 'thriller' of 90's britpop.

You Know We Can't go Back is on repeat for me. really digging this one lately. it would be a great song to blast in the car while driving by a cornfield with the windows down on a sunny 85 degree summer day.

I think the production of The Dying Of The Light is perfect and subtle, it suits the song. Big bombastic drums, Nickelback echoes, choirs and over the top orchestras aren't this song.

the jury is still out on chasing yesterday for me. didn't really like it at first, but starting to come around. has some great tunes for sure, but on the flipside, there's a couple of absolutely cringeworthy songs lurking in the tracklisting as well. the 'skip' button in my car has been hot to the touch.

Yeah i'm loving it at the moment. As I'm in scotland i've been blasting it in the car in the morning rush hour to Glasgow in pishing rain at 50 degrees...working just aswell haha. Although your setting could take it to new heights for me.

I've been playing the album from release. Still enjoying it. YKWCGB, LATD, DTD, TDOTL, BOTMI and Riverman all great.
The Girl with x-ray eyes and The Mexican get skipped everytime. Just can't get into them unfortunately.

It's a good album and one of the most consistent Noel has ever written, but it's highs aren't as high as some people seem to make out.

The discrete guitar, beautiful piano & guitar solo, and the subtle background touches work well with the somewhat dark production that also blooms with a certain love that gets expressed well. It's one of the standout tracks on the album, and does a good job at leading into The Right Stuff.

He sings it so normally. With the song he was trying to conjure up this epic romantic image, and I think he largely succeeds. But then he sings that and I just picture him in some wellies walking round a little farm picking up pigs until he's gathered too many and they start wriggling out of his arms and he has to start again

I'm listening to the album on a bike ride right now...
It's a decent album from a 50 year old guy. I skip X-RAYE, LATD, TDOTL and MEXICÃN. I really like the rest.
God bless.
