This would have been discussed at some point I'm sure but this is a forum so fuck it.
AND a lot won't agree I know, if I've learnt anything from this forum it's that everyone's likes are so different.
Anyway, I've showed a lot of people this song, particularly guys who only know about morning glory, think liam is shit at writing songs etc etc. they have all said Start anew is amazing. I think it's the best song liam has written even though he's written some great songs over the years + some shit ones don't get me wrong.
Thoughts?

I think it's definitely one of his better tunes. But it sometimes feels a bit anticlimactic for me, especially as an album closer. I prefer The Morning Son, actually, though I imagine not many would share that preference.
EDIT: Also, while we're on the subject of Liam's BE songs - I'd just like to say I feel The World's Not Set In Stone is vastly underrated. Probably in my top 5 Liam tunes.

One of Beady Eye's best.

It's got a great melody, but again it lacks something, it feels unfinished and it's a bit too repetitive, I'd take Soul Love over it
The Morning Son on the other hand is amazing

Not the biggest fan of it. Love The Morning Son and Soul Love. In fact, Soul Love is probably up there with Songbird as my favourite Liam song

It's a nice song, but at this point I feel it's not particularly a milestone for Liam. It's a good song, but Liam writes good songs these days, and it's a decent addition to a respectable catalogue. It's a pretty song, I like to listen to it, and I really hope to hear more songs from Liam before too long. He has a distinctive style and I'd miss his songs, songs like start anew, if there were to be no more.
For me I'm Outta Time is his masterpiece. And in a way, Boy with The Blues

I think people expected it to a sweeping epic to close the album. It was more a sweet little tune that doesn't outstay its welcome. I think Andy described it as such by saying it doesn't try to hard.
That french radio performance is a bit special to.

One of my favourite ever songs, including Oasis.
Liam's vocal is amazing, we rarely get to hear him sing so softly, really wish he'd use it more.
Lyrics are really good, great vocal, beautiful melody. Spot on.

Songbird and Im outta time were his best songs.
Start anew was definitely a return to form. Liam needs to become more consistent though..If he can release songs along the same lines as the previously mentioned 3 + The morning son, love like a bomb etc..he can put together a great album

You have to remember BOADC! It's up there with BWTB as the best Liam song. I'm Outta Time comes close. And FOTF can be considered one of his as well, since he had the chords, rhythm and melody

I'd say it's one of his best. Not sure if the best. But better than Outta Time. Still think Songbird is a 2 minute masterpiece.

'Born On A Different Cloud' is my favourite Liam penned song. It's so underrated and forgotten. I'm sure if John Lennon had written it, it would be regarded as a 'classic'. I also hate the way Heathen Chemistry is slagged off so much here. It's a fucking great album, b-sides included, and it's what turned me on to Oasis.

I don't think anything comes close to I'm Outta Time, which is melodically, one of Oasis strongest tunes since 2000.
Just a shame it is kind of out of place on Dig Out Your Soul, which is largely soulless. Would have been great if he had written it for Giants, imagine the Stent production on that one, and it seems to fit the mood of that album.

I much prefer the 'Remix' version of 'I'm Outta Time' from the US Promo EP to the album version. Those thumping drums and extra effects really make it an extra great tune.

A great tune, but the album version is a bit too 'Beatlefied' for my liking. It would work really well as a simple acoustic number with piano I think. I play it on guitar at a slightly quicker tempo and it sounds amazing.

Master(halfa)piece. In the context of the record, works well, but as a standalone track, something is missing.

It's a beautifully crafted song, but what brings it down for me is how the lyrics just repeat themselves after the orchestra swell, of sorts, and the instrumental interlude. If he would've put something else in there, it would've been epic and lifted the song to be something quite inspirational.
As it turned out to be, though, is pretty good, and I have very few complaints aside from how the lyrics repeat themselves a little too much. It's quite a tune, and reminds me of Fake Plastic Trees a little, for how it goes from being slow & acoustic, then to picks itself up. I'd put it up there with Boy With the Blues, Guess God Thinks I'm Abel, Songbird, and I'm Outta Time, as far as his best penned songs go.

It's very repetitive. The production round it is top notch though, absolutely love the drop in the middle.
If I don't listen to the lyrics it's enjoyable.
