Yes its another Liam voice change topic, but this time its positive!
Yes he sounded best in 95 (imo) but as time progressed he had quite a few good performances. I wont mention those in 2000-2002 cos i'd still consider his voice to be solid back then.
But their best ever performance of Supersonic was in 2009..including Liam's vocals.
Then theres TSOTL:
There are many more which imo wouldn't have sounded as good with his 90's voice.

Supersonic from Earls Court '95 is not only the best performance of Supersonic but it's the best performance of any Oasis song ever. This one isn't even in the same stratosphere as that.

Liam's 2011 voice is underrated. It doesn't have quite the same tone as in his peak but he had that power that was missing for half a decade or so. I'm pretty sure he was being a lot more professional at that stage. Shame that the pro footage from the BE tour was from when he was off the rails.

Case in point, some of those live performances of Four Letter Word. Like that Fuji Rock 2012 performance. Liam didn't sound strained, but still had the power there like his old self (think pre-DM).

Anything after Liam losing his teeth in 2002 is very very difficult to compare with what he was then. I really think he sings differently the new songs from then on but he was never brilliant and I dare to say he ruined the classics.

Holy fucking shit, yes. Not to mention that performance of I Am the Walrus they did with The Bootleg Beatles. Absolutely immense.

In a strange sort of way it's made his voice more interesting.
Every performance now, we're all eager to see how he sounds and how it's changed. If new live footage emerged that was recorded yesterday, we'd all be straight on it because we want to see how he sounds.
Even the relatively short rest period between Different Gear, Still Speeding and BE was enough to make him sound like we'd never heard him before (watch that Oui FM performance again).
Personally, I'm really eager to hear him live again. He's had a long, long period of voice rest - I want to hear what effect that's had.

To be fair I think he sounds decent nowadays, the problem isn't really his voice, its the amount of rest he gets between each performance. The more often he sings the more he'll strain his voice and go back to sounding mediocre. He just needs to accept that he can't tour the way he used to with Oasis

I still think Liams voice damn unique even now, when hes into it and hes putting effort in it sounds great, he vocals since beady eye came back in 2013 only got better imo, I havnt heard him so good for a long time during the my generation performance.
Liam had a few good gigs during 08 but on the whole it was thin and worn out, that 2009 river plate stadium gig is way overrated imo, Liams voice is all but gone (his mic volume made it worse), theres no way I would want him to sound like that again.
if oasis got back together they would have to small runs with long breaks, Liams voice is still good but it gets worn down so quickly, beady eye started touring in about april / may of 2013 and his voice was shot by about the end of june / july, hsi voice became a lot more gruff over the course of big day out and that was only a few gigs.
needs to take it more easy nowadays.
like above the best supersonic for me is the earls court gigs, gmex 97 is pretty cool too.

It's still better than most but it's not the same as his silky smooth vocals of 1994 to 1998.

Let's be honest, there's no upside at all to Liam's voice these days.

Let's be honest, there's no upside at all to Liam's voice these days. To be fair he sung his lowest note in World outside my room, so theres that.

Let's be honest, there's no upside at all to Liam's voice these days. I disagree, people say his voice sucks but theres been a few gigs in the last couple of years that were as good if not better than some of the gigs during and after 2002. hes been looking after more or something, I cant believe people might believe that he hasnt sounded better since oasis split.

I'm comparing it more with his peak years in the 90s - he could sing anything back then, these days it's selective.

I was watching live forever from Glastonbury 94 and hes singing the choruses like its no issue and could sing much higher notes than that fast forward 10 years and that song is a real strain for him.

Let's be honest, there's no upside at all to Liam's voice these days. I love when people make justifications for his vocal performances post 2000. Let's be honest, it's almost an entirely different voice. Compare it to bootlegs from 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997 and 1998. His voice was almost heavenly. So smooth, so unique. It sounded amazing. It was effortless. These days it sounds like he is straining to be the voice he once was. Sure he has his moments but it's a fight to get there.

I agree. By 2000 his voice had changed a lot, but I think until 2002 he still sounded alright. After that it went downhill and you all know it. And it's not age either. I get that you don't sound the same at 40 as you did when you were 20, but there are more factors here. Blablabla you all know it.

You could spend the rest of eternity debating the merits of Liam's voice. And many on here have tried and will continue to do so.
