One thing that bothers me is, like with the Voidz, that I can't figure out what JC is singing. I just can't figure out the chorus of OBLIVUS. Is it? : A) Watch out! You're standing out! B) What side you standing on? C) What are you standing on? D) Something else?
Hunting meat? Untame me? I think it's A B A B

Whatever happened to The Strokes? 1 million for a 45 minutes gig at festivals, that's what happened to that band. They're clearly reforming every 2 or 3 years to pay the bills. the EP is really nothing special. Drag queen sounds like a rough take with shoddy vocals.

Even though the music has suffered tremendously over the years, The Strokes are still a huge fucking brand to the indie masses. Just like Oasis were their entire career. People will still shell out big bucks to go see them. Neither group really retained their music relevance after album #2.

That's not enough.

Especially Oasis.

Thanks, will read it. I also heard about the book before, it might be an interesting read, as it covers an interesting subject.

Whatever happened to The Strokes? They burned out, simple as really. Other more talented and creative acts who came behind them as they rode the wave of the New Rock age of the early 00's created by the Strokes just outperformed them commercial and criticially. A bit like The Stone Roses or Television, how could you top a album of such perfection on the first go. Van Morrison who's a legend and went to make so make great albums in the 70's, 80's and 90's but they will always be in the shadow of Astral Weeks. I though Room on Fire was a fantastic follow up and definitely needs revaluing but it was always going to have a tough time following Is This It. Following albums after just were far too patchy with the odd moment of genius thrown in. But it seems as someone said they are really about making as much touring rather then proving the doubters wrong. I get the feeling that Julian Casablancas seems happy to do his own thing and only comes back on when he needs the cash. Shame really but they always have a fanbase there waiting for them.
