Does somebody know? It should've been there as a single for the album

Because Stop The Clocks was supposed to be a "best of" album and Stop The Clocks wasn't recorded as an Oasis song on any album or single. They could never nail the song, and that's why it never ended up on any album. Noel once said he had about 8 different versions laying around at home or something.

Because Stop The Clocks is a best of and Stop The Clocks wouldnt have even been in the top 50 best Oasis Songs if it was an Oasis song had it not been saved to become a Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds song.
I think thats right?

On many 'best of' albums are unreleased tracks

Here:
When asked about the absence of any new tracks on the album in press interviews, Noel Gallagher said he thought putting bonus tracks on a 'best-of' album would take the focus away on what was supposed to be a retrospective collection.

Bands always add a couple of new songs to Best Ofs, so it's not the worst idea. Except for the fact that Stop The Clocks is shit, as is the compilation really. Time Flies is miles better.

cant remember what Interview but noels said there was like 8 different versions some with Liams vocals on them etc and was considered as a bonus track but wasnt used either because it wasnt finished or simply didnt want it on there, I also remember reading the boy with the blues was either going to be on stop the clocks along with the stop the clocks song or it was going to a standalone single with something else around that same time.
sorry im vague.
regarding be here now, Noel isnt so dismissive of it now he spoke about the oasis albums last year I think and he spoke fondly of the album and the experience of it, it was SOTSOG that he hardly mentioned and seemed to brush under the carpet.

There was a rumour back in 2006 that both Stop The Clocks and Boy With The Blues would both be included, sadly it was bullshit. Funny we got the songs within 2 years anyway

It was going to be on DOYS. As for STC, that one was going to be on every album from Heathen Chemistry and onwards. I can understand why he wouldn't mention SOTSOG a lot. It was written and recorded during a tough period in his life. Coming off drugs, splitting up with the wife, band members leaving etc. Plus it didn't sell that well.

I dont mind stop the clocks granted its not the great song it was perceived to be but its alright.
the only thing I really cant stand about it is the SOUND....SOUND....SOUND.....SOUND lines before the outro kicks in, im sure he couldve done something better than that, just sounds annoying.

I honestly think STC is one of my favourites from the last few years of OasiS, although I prefer record machine. Released as a double a-side it could have been the finest release from Oasis post 97
The DBTT demos leak of 2008 was about the most euphoric I've ever felt listening to New oasis related material.
I played stc and Record Machine to death for months afterwards

does anyone think record machine and stop the clocks couldve been any better with Liam on vocals? Im not sure myself but Ive never been keen on the demo of record machine that was more in the style of the DOYS theme which would of likely been the style Liam wouldve sung on.
wouldnt mind hearing one of these alternate versions with Liam singing STC though I doubt it would ever see the light of day now.

We'll 100% get this some day. We may be waiting 15 years though unfortunately

Does somebody know? It should've been there as a single for the album Stop The Clocks the album had bigger problems than the omission of Stop The Clocks the song. A two CD compilation album with 9 tracks on each CD is a little weak in my opinion. Oasis has vast material to choose from to make it 12-13 tracks per CD. Maybe more. I will make note that the compilation does work in the fact it flows really well and it basically contains all the classics.

I made a playlist of the "original" track listing, it's quite a good listen!

Probably because it wasn't finished at the time. Noel said the band never nailed it. He wasn't going to release a song he wasn't happy with. The title was a good one for a best of given that they explained they wanted to put a bookmark in their carreer.

It would be great if they released a EP with Stop the Clocks (Liam), Record Machine (Liam) and Lord Don't Slow Me Down That should have been done in early 2006. Momentum was in Oasis' corner after a magnificent run in 2005 with Don't Believe The Truth. A 2006 EP would have been KILLER! Imagine this: February 2006 1. Stop The Clocks (Liam) 2. Lord Don't Slow Me Down 3. I Wanna Live In A Dream In My Record Machine (Liam) 4. Boy With The Blues

So if Noel is finally coming around to accepting BHN as it is, does that mean SOTSOG is the new BHN?
(still eagerly waiting word of that BHN box!!)

Let's just be thankful it wasn't. As one of the worst songs Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds have done, it would have stuck out like a sore thumb on an Oasis best-of, next to classics like Live Forever and Slide Away.
