It was going to be on DOYS. As for STC, that one was going to be on every album from Heathen Chemistry and onwards. I can understand why he wouldn't mention SOTSOG a lot. It was written and recorded during a tough period in his life. Coming off drugs, splitting up with the wife, band members leaving etc. Plus it didn't sell that well. It was also earmarked to be a standalone single / EP in 2006 I'd still love to hear the Oasis versions. Noel's HFB attempt never sat right in the pocket for me.

Bored me to death, never listen to it anymore (how did this close Noel's first album and not Simple Game of Genius???). The demo had a bit more going for it, needed Liam vocals in my opinion. It's just a flat droning song for me, Liam would've added something. Maybe. I guess we'll have to wait for a leak of his version...! As for Record Machine there's no doubt that Liam would've elevated that song. Imagine the final verse with him and Noel harmonizing, 'I don't need one to shiiiine'. Would've been top!

Because that would make too much sense.

Let's just be thankful it wasn't. As one of the worst songs Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds have done, it would have stuck out like a sore thumb on an Oasis best-of, next to classics like Live Forever and Slide Away. And Songbird

I think with Liams vocals and a belting production, record machine and stop the clocks and even come outside (its alright) could of been a saving grace to oasis in that last leg, they were lacking any big classic oasis athems and I think at least one of those 3 could of done it.
I like DOYS but there were no songs on that album that could be regarded as "all time classics", DBTT had IOBI and lyla but DOYS didnt have any really, shock of the lightning probably came the closest but didnt get there imo.

Dig Out Your Soul is Oasis' ultimate: Coulda.....Woulda.....Shoulda....album. Bag It Up The Turning Waiting For The Rapture The Shock of The Lightning I'm Outta Time Come On Outside (Liam vocals) Falling Down To Be Where There Is Life (Richard Fearless version) I Wanna Live In A Dream In My Record Machine (Liam vocals) Boy With The Blues Hidden track Stop The Clocks (Liam vocals)

I'd say if they would've had the first 7 songs (with the exception of fitting the Alt Version #2 of WFTR in there somewhere) they ended up going with, To Be Where There's Life (Richard Fearless Production), then Boy with the Blues, Come on Outside (Liam vox) to follow, and a more guitar-centred, Liam-sung Record Machine to close the album, it would've done the trick for the band. If not that, then something like this: 5. Waiting for the Rapture (Alt Version #2), 6. I Believe in All, 7. Falling Down, 8. Come on Outside (Liam vox, yada yada), 9. To Be Where There's Life (Richard Fearless Production), 10. Boy with the Blues; Hidden Track (after a ~2-3 minute pause): The Nature of Reality (instrumental) Even with IBIA and TNOR (Instrumental), as a hidden track, there's not an absolute clunker in sight.
