For me 1999 because Bonehead and Guigsy left. The real Oasis split in 1999. 2000 was just Noel and Liam

2007, because of the embrassingly poor performance at the BRITs

1999, with a dishonourable mention to 2004 and 2009 (struggling to get an album made in 04, band breaking up in 09)

1999. The fame deteriorated. Bonehead and Guigsy left. Noel was bored of songwriting. A bunch of family drama etc. Getting sued by Tony. The death of Britpop and the desperate need for them to reinvent their sound.

gotta be 99 lost bonehead and guigs , dont see how HC year can be in convo
ok alot of people here arent huge fans of it , but it went to number 1 in uk , they toured without too much drama ( i forget if thats the tour noel got into a car accident in states and liam lost teeth in fight )
but nme gave it a solid 7 or 8 of ten they played 2 sold out beacon shows in nyc that were great , thought all in all not a bad comeback from the dissaray they were in losing bonehead and guigs and getting hammered in press over sotsog

Yeah defo 1999. Tbh I don't think HC is THAT bad. I think DBTT is worse. And this is why women shouldn't be allowed to voice their opinions.

1999 marked the end of the Oasis we all love - this was the band that got us on this forum.
Maybe I'm too sentimentally attached to the 90s, but from there on in, it was mediocre albums with just a spattering of great tunes sadly.

Controversially perhaps, I'm going for 1997.
There was so much expectation ahead of the third album, then it came out and it wasn't nearly as good as the first two.
From that point on the excitement and buzz died down and Oasis kind of became just another band. The aura of invincibility and the idea that they could actually be "the next Beatles" or whatever just died a death.
Be Here Now is judged less harshly these days, including by me. But at the time it felt like the end of something truly magical.
Second choice would be 1999.

Your not saying Standing On The Shoulder of Giants was shit now, are you??? Don't diss that album man, its my personal favorite Oasis album, actually. And you'll probably kill me for saying this, but Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth Is is in my top 5 on it. Literally, EVERYONE on here hates it, and I feel so lonely for that.

I don't hate the song at all. To properly enjoy it it has to be played LOUD. The lyrics are meaningless and only serve the melody of the song but the groove, the loops and the riff are excellent and really serve to pick up the pace of the album after the meandering Who Feels Love? That fourth track could either have been Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth Is or Full On but I don't see it as filler at all.

Do you ever think there is a great guitar riff buried underneath all those keyboards on the song though? I keep thinking this song could have had much louder guitar. it would benefit from a bit of remixing.

98 - 2000 we had members leave and the bside album which was amazing but if noel had kept all those songs off singles would of made a brilliant 4th lp from 98 - 2000 i thought they were in limbo which they were then they released SOTSOG my personal favourite lp by the band and im all over PYMWYMI like a rash its a top song

2004. Liam's voice was dead, the Glastonbury performance was awful and the intial sessions for Don't Believe The Truth were abandoned because Noel didn't feel the material was good enough (it was shite).
