2004. Liam's voice was dead, the Glastonbury performance was awful and the intial sessions for Don't Believe The Truth were abandoned because Noel didn't feel the material was good enough (it was shite). Liam's vocals were already shot by 2002 actually. You can clearly tell on Heathen Chemistry. Ah yeah but at least in 2002 he had a few gigs where he sounded ok-decent (TOTP, Superdry, Collumbiahalle). I'm pretty sure on HC and DBTT though the pitch of his voice was made higher so he actually could sound listenable so you're pretty much spot on there.

If you slow the Liam-sung songs from HC or DBTT down a notch, you will realize what you said may be true. Cause when the songs he sings on are slowed down, he sounds more natural. The way he should sound. Import a Liam-sung song from HC or DBTT into the Audacity sound editor program and go to Effects and hit Change Speed. Set the slider to -5.000 and press OK. then Liam won't sound so sped up or pitch changed anymore!
