Yep, they should definitely release The Mexican as the next single.

promotion team has been asleep at the wheel for the most part and has been relying too heavily on Facebook/Twitter to promote singles which only really reach out to people that already are fans.
so, to talk about chart friendly options is like talking to a brick wall...they have just been phoning it in...

Riverman isn't a good choice in the same way Everybody's on the Run wasn't a good choice on the last album. Best track on the record but not a proper promotional song, need to be listen with atention and not with "radio ears".
Noel has a lot of better songs to promote, like The Girl with X-Ray Eyes, The Dying of the Light, The Mexican and You Know We Can't Go Back. I think he's just putting his favourite track to be a single, but it doesn't make sense. He wrote In the Heat of the Moment, a typical radio track, just to promote the album, and now he's putting Riverman on this place, totally non-sense.
For collectors it will be good, a special vinyl with a brillant song, but for the radio and for the charts... terrible.

imagine if LIAM sang Riverman... IMAGINE all the people right here right now where do they all come from Are these 3 songs in one? But yeah, YKWCGB is very generic and easy to listen to. I can totally imagine Katy Perry singing it. It's his best shot at reasonable spot in the charts, even though I'm pretty sure it will not chart well anyway, due to the album having been out for months by that time, him not getting played a lot on the radio etc. Festivals can help. And maybe they decide to use it on something, like WAL. It just screams catchiness and poppy.

Nowadays nobody (who loves the good music) listens to the radio nor looks the (fool) chartings. And Noel know that

YKWCGB is in my top 3 favorite songs off of the album. And I think AOTR, TRS and Riverman are boring as hell. Glad we all have different tastes.

The single won't chart well not because it's Riverman but because of the album was released 1 month ago and like 120k people in UK already have the song. So you can count 120k who will not buy the single, and it's his fanbase, basically. Not because it's Riverman, because they already have the whole album. They (we)'ll buy the vinyl, 2/3k copies and that will be enough for a top 100 position.
Just like Everybody's on the Run or If I Had a Gun. If The Death of You And me would have been released as 4th its destiny would have been similar to IIHAG's.

Has anyone got any inside knowledge as to what colour the vinyl is? I was thinking of it too. First Man City blue, then PINK! What's next, Noel?

Well, if you draw an arc (y=-e x) from the first release (City blue) to the second release (translucent pink) and then reverse that arc in the y-axis, you end up in ~650nm zone. To me this is conclusive proof that the single will be red, which of course I predicted weeks ago.

Mates, do you know when the vynil will be sent? I mean, it will get home the release day or it will be send that day? Moreover, I live in Spain...
And I think that the vynil color will be... Gray! (Damn!). I would prefer it would be white

If RIVERMAN was being released as a CD single with exclusive b-sides I'd buy it.
I already have both the songs being issued on the vinyl single - and I don't have a turntable anyway.
I'm a huge Noel fan but he's not releasing anything here I'm tempted to buy.
