The guy has many more negatively toned posts on that site. I did read through this one, entirely and thought it was painful. It was so bad that you wouldn't go in there and criticize his opinion on Noel, but rather on how the piece was utter garbage.

The writer seems to be insinuating that all that love Noel's songs are half-witted morons. It is very painful thing to fail to understand a phenomenon. In a way, I get his venom, as I've felt that way about several other acts who have made it big.
But it doesn't really make his opinion particularly thoughtful. There are germs of truth in that review (poor lyrics, lack of adventurism), but it ignores one simple but inconvenient fact that blasts a giant hole in his thesis. Noel always has been, and is still, a genius when it comes to crafting melody, structure and dynamics in a pop song. There are 10,000 people with the indie cred, good taste and willingness to experiment that this guy seems to value for every one with Noel's talents. That is why we love Noel's tunes, and if this dude doesn't get it, well...oh well. Let him listen to that album that got 8.7/10 on pitchfork that nobody will remember in 5 years.

"Luke Haines is an avant garde singer-songwriter. He has made 16 albums under various names: the Auteurs, Black Box Recorder and Baader Meinhof. His latest album New York in the ‘70s, a mythological re-imagining of the downtown New York rock & roll scene, will be released in May on Cherry Red Records."
Either this is some some sort of bleeding satire, or he is trying too hard.

Wonderwall the beginning of dad rock? That made me laugh. Maybe the beginning of acoustic chill frat bro rock but that can be credited to Dave Mathews just as much. Weird because it seems like he may have a soft spot for that acoustic stuff, seeing has he called Ed Sheeran harmless. How are you going to shit on Wonderwall when its pretty obvious that careers like Sheeran's are indebted to its success/influence?
Highlight cringe moments for me:
"It’s easy to imagine William Blake trying to explain his visions of Christ and Noel raising his eyebrow in that mock-quizzical way, looking into the camera and saying, “Tell you what, mate, come back to me when you’ve headlined Glastonbury.”
Dude is really bringing fine art into rock n' roll? Noel makes art but even he doesn't consider himself as an artist, at least he isn't trying to pretend to be something he isn't. Judging by the video that one of commenters posted seems like this dude is a wannabe art rocker. Who makes lame 8 bit kitsch recordings about Lou Reed. I feel a lot of musicians, specifically indie musicians hide behind the term art rock/avant garde and it really pisses me off. Just because you make weird music doesn't mean its good or even unique for that matter. Avant garde used to be progressive and creative but in a lot of ways has become a parody of itself.
"The excellent Sleaford Mods also know that we are all fucked, but their songs sound like surrealistic rants from a John the Baptist figure speaking in tongues."
Sleaford Mods and John the Baptist should never be in the same sentence...

Moronic and boring. Stopped reading after his edgy comparison of Riverman to Taxman. Probably because they both have "-man" in their titles.

Either this is some some sort of bleeding satire, or he is trying too hard. Perhaps he's taking a leaf out of Noel's album promotion book by going on the attack to garner media interest before his album is released. He'll soon realise this only works for Noel though...

Its mostly bitter bollocks to be honest. The failure to recognise that something simple, something uncomplicated could be inspired, creative and connect with a great many people. The indie position that something popular is a thing to be ashamed of.
The one bit I do agree on is when Noel goes on about money and wealth. Its become tiresome and a bit cringy for me.
