Bump. This song is such a grower. I despised it on first listen, but it seems to get stuck in my head every so often, especially right around each holiday, since it was stuck in my head today (the 24th), and also on Thanksgiving. Anywho, Noel produced a good, fun B-side with this one, and it shows with that kazoo solo that comes in at around 1:31...

I like Noel's voice and the keyboards and a few other things, but it's a bit naff really. Leave My Guitar Alone worked better.
Probably still prefer it to it's A-side though...

Ahah you hate Lock All The Doors that much ? I think it absolutely ronks. I hope Noel steers well clear of that kind of thing on his next record.

Well, it's probably not the best song on the album, the production is too clean and the drums suck but I find the tune itself good and way better than the Mexican or In The Heat of The Moment.

Moment really is the Roll With It of the High Flying Birds catalogue. People seem to either love it or hate it. I'm definitely in the former, but I can see why it would grate (namely, those infamous "nah-nah-nah"s) And I'm a big T. Rex fan, so the chugging groove of The Mexican is alright by me. I think that's the difference between his two albums: one person could absolutely love a Chasing Yesterday track another person feels no real pull to, and vice versa, but with High Flying Birds stuff, we all pretty much know which tracks are good and which are shit. In that regard, I guess Chasing Yesterday is closer to Noel's golden 90s period than anything he's been a part of since. Definitely encouraging for his next one!

Ive always imagined this song to be a woman singing it in a wild west saloon in some old movie, just sounds abit odd with Noel singing it.
overall its shit but I dont think it was intended to be decent as such, its just a fun song.
even so though I can still imagine the backlash if beady eye had written it, people wouldve demolished them for it.
