If we didn't have ITHOTM on its own for a million months before anything else, people would appreciate it more.

Hate to say it but I really do feel like The Mexican is one of the worst songs Noel has ever done.

Hate to say it but I really do feel like The Mexican is one of the worst songs Noel has ever done. No chance. Have you never heard Force Of Nature or She Is Love? El Mexicano is class.

Ha fair play, maybe I was being a little too over the top. But I do dislike it. It's in the bottom one or two for me on Chasing Yesterday, but we've all got our opinions.

One of my favourites on the album, but now I think that, maybe, ITHOTM has been the right choice after all.

don't know if it should have been a single but i do love the song. Sounds like U2 during the Pop era POP era U2 huh? Interesting reference. I can kinda see what you are saying. Great album by the way (POP). the last good U2 album imo.

The Mexican is a great song, not sure why people hate it.

The Mexican is a great song, not sure why people hate it. it's pretty raw, catchy as hell and daft lyrics, could have been an early Oasis b side

i think it's good too, especially in context of In the Heat of the Moment. At least its got bit of personality to it. In the Heat of the Moment pretty bland (tho i do think it'll be great live)

The Mexican wouldn't be taken too kindly in America. Read into that as you will.

For me ITHOTM is a great song and a good first single. TM is a good song but Noel is not a good performer for this type of songs, imo. And I am thinking Josh Homme, not Liam this time
And about reviews, if you read them again, you will see there are more reviews citing ITHOTM as a highlight than TM

It's weird, but In The Heat Of The Moment is still kinda growing on me. It's nothing special, but i like this song. Not sure if it was the best pick for the first single, but it's perfect as a 2nd track on the album. It's this album's Shakermaker.

The Mexican is my least favourite HFB tune, however I'd still put it as a strong 7/10. Which shows how strong his post Oasis output has been.
Yes, I prefer the good rebel.

Also, I think just the fact that it's called the Mexican could offend some people I guess, maybe? Just imagine if it was called the African-American.

Definitely should NOT be a single. Riverman, Lock All The Doors, Dying Of The Light, You Know We Can't Go Back are all sensible choices. .

This theory reminds of this song "African Child" that Russell Brand used to sing, playing a rock star in the movie "Get him to the Greek". Which might not be a great movie but is definitely hilarious in places.

^ Ah Get Him To The Greek. I was surprised with P. Diddy's acting skills and sense of humour when I watched it

Worst on the album, usually skip or wish it to hurry up, something about it, seems as if it was just lobbed on there to make the numbers up. Should of dropped it as a bside and Do The Damage as the album opener.

No way, I don't even think that tune should be on the album after hearing that clip for Freaky Teeth...

the more I listen, the more I think of it as an "answer" to Second Bite Of The Apple. calling it a trowaway when BE would have made it a first single. I love SBOTA, but it's just missing a.. SONG, if you know what I mean.
here you simply got a good song growing up to a bomb.
but it's no Noel Gallagher single material.

I think The Mexican wouldn't be a good single, simply because there is nine better songs than it on the album. However, every album needs a light-hearted song (Digsy's Dinner, Elizabeth My Dear etc.):like this to make it more balanced and also to make the other songs even better when listening to the album as a whole.
