Well, I like the new song, some Great Escape vibes, a little like London Loves too.
I'm probably in the minority here, but to me the first few Blur albums are absolutely fantastic with Modern Life Is Rubbish as an absolute masterpiece, but I couldn't get into much of their newer stuff (everything after Blur, that is) and definitely don't think much of his solo album...mostly boring.

Looking forward to the album but what the fuck is this song and video is beyond me... I hope the album will be a new direction like Noel's, not reinventing the 90's vibe.

Can't get my head around this news. The new song is alright but it's one of those that might sound better in the context of the album, but I'm trying to figure out what the new album has in store - and what is with the Chinese motifs for this album? Likewise Frank Lee Vulgar, I'm a bigger fan of their early albums which were idiosyncratic and representative of British modern life, in addition to the poppy, almost old English music hall style music. The new song is nowhere near he level of Under The Westway which harked backed to their sound from the 90s - musically and lyrically. I'd have loved them to make an album about British modern life 20 years on and at middle age, would have made a great concept and be a continuation of their early albums. But I can't complain - been dying for a new Blur album and I still really enjoy all their other albums, in addition to Damon's work outwith Blur.

I'm sure the new album will run the gauntlet of musical genres. You'll have your slower songs, your weird songs, the throw away songs like the new single and the experimental songs. We shall see.

Respect for this throwaway, anyway. I mean, their last 3 albums were not successful, not even in the UK. They're not playing it in the easy way.
Anyway I think that the song is average at best. The video is the worst I've ever seen. Thanks for that recipe though.

Wow, really great news. Nice one Damon & the gang. The songs alright but I'm sure they'll have a lot more ammunition in store. I look forward to it. Hopefully it'll rile Liam up a bit too!

Apparently it's just an album track and the "real" single will drop in the spring. It's like the Heat of the moment of this record (let's hope)

What I meant was hopefully if people like Andy, Noel, Blur etc. are proactive musically, that he'll get a teenie-weenie bit of an itch to do something.

I nearly forgot about Under the Westway - that song was absolutely brillant. The thing I like about Go Out is that the sound isn't too far from the Blur sound I like (i.e. 1991-1997), maybe Damon is getting back to his roots a little. Then again, there's a song called Ong Ong on there, so anything could happen. On an unrelated note, I remember Damon saying that Young & Lovely was written about having kids at a time when nobody in the band had any, and that it kinda foreshadowed that for them - would be great if they could follow that up, if only because Young & Lovely might very well be the best b-side of all time.

New song: I'm sure noel could bang out a shit tune any day of the week to seem active (FB launch of ITHOTM comes to mind ) .. but pretty pointless...not seeing much buzz for blur in uk considering their huge media push today (i.e. they are everywhere)
