For me it definitely is, it's got great melodies, a great chorus and bridge that are almost blended in together, the bass riff in the back is just epic, guitar solo is strong, saxophone coming in towards in the end is unique for Noel, and it feels like he's really trying hard to expand his style of music. It's just fantastic.
Quite honestly after 3 days of listening its up with his finest work. Class A for sure and it sounds like a man with a masterplan(bad pun intended). 10/10.
Can't wait to see this live in just over 2 weeks !!!!!!!

Probably, yes. I quite like it. I like it more than any HFB song.

I can even see Riverman struggling in The Masterplan...

I didn't like the melody.. I mean it's a good song but it gets really repetitive

No. I didn't like it at first but now it's growing on me. I wish it was a little faster and shorter. It has a pretty good melody but I wish the chorus was a bit better. It's my 4th favorite behind LAD, TGWTXRE and YNWCGB.

No but it's still a brilliant song. You have to remember just how many amazing tunes this man has wrote - from his first two albums worth alone: Rock n' Roll Star Shakermaker Live Forever Slide Away Supersonic Columbia The Masterplan Half the World Away Fade Away Acquiesce Wonderwall Don't Look Back In Anger Some Might Say Cast no Shadow Morning Glory Champagne Supernova Step Out Talk Tonight Round Are Way (It's Good) To Be Free Rockin' Chair Whatever
I'm sure you can find 10 songs better than Riverman comfortably just from those.

Supersonic, Cigarettes & Alcohol, Champagne Supernova, Don't Look Back in Anger, Morning Glory, Live Forever, Wonderwall, The Masterplan and the list goes on...
But I Do think that it's one of the best songs he's ever written, but they're too much. And I do think that if it was released back in the days (1994, 1995, 1996 etc.) It would have been an Oasis classic, maybe not like Supersonic or Live Forever but definitely at the level of Cast No Shadow or some less famous songs.

At first i thought it was one of the best that chief ever wrote. Now it seems mediocre at best. It's on the top 10 of Noel's solo work, i'll give you that. I don't think it's gonna stand the test of time.
If it wasn't for the sax solo, it wouldn't even be in the top 10 of Noel's solo work.

Considering Noel's top 10 I'd say no, I mean, he's the guy who wrote two of the best records of all time, but for me it's up there, definitely top 10 post BHN, probably the best along with Gas Panic and TIOBI

Probably not, but to me, Noel's top 20 or 25 are all nearly perfect songs, so there's quite a bit of competition. Is it an absolutely great song? Definitely.

Once this album cycle is over it'll be forgotten about. Doesn't stand up to repeated listening at all.

I've not even heard it (I'm one of the few not listening to the leak) but if it is Noel Gallagher's top 10 songs ever I'd be incredibly surprised.
From what I've heard (mainly from people on here) it's sounds great and I'm very excited to hear it but similar the The Escapists response to be top 10 it'd need to be phenomenally good a top 10 for me would be something like;
Live Forever Slide Away The Masterplan Champagne Supernova Gas Panic! Some Might Say Acquiesce Wonderwall Rock 'n' Roll Star Whatever
If it is anywhere near that level, it'll be one of the best songs of the 21st Century by anyone!

Nope it's a very good tune though.
This is weird actually - I've listened to it a few times, but I still forget what the tune 100% sounds like.
Honestly, if someone asked me to hum it now... I couldn't!
Need to listen to it again!
