DOYS was decent, when Noel was writing, once the others got involved it went downhill imo. Same with DBTT. Although Noel songs on those albums were the best, they aren't a patch on the songs in his first 2 solo albums, since Oasis split Noel imo has grown as a songwriter & at present is on top form.

I do hope that Noel and Liam perform once again on a stage, but Oasis-reunion? no, thanks.

A few Live gigs sometime in future would be cool but agree that a full on reform of the band would be a huge mistake, not for Liam as he needs it, but for Noel he needs to stay solo and make solo albums, not Oasis ones.

The only reason that this album will get high-scoring reviews is because it is Noel Gallagher. If any artist without a big name released this record, it's probably be getting half-marks because it sounds like shop music... Nothing too loud, attention-grabbing or offensive... Mellow, average-sounding music. To me, it almost sounds like Noel's attempt at making Damon Albarn's Everyday Robots. So, if reviewers judge with their ears and not their eyes, I imagine this album will not get the best reviews and Noel may not be as big as he is now in 12 months (the industry is cruel)... At which point, he may be back down from playing the likes of the O2 Arena and headlining Hard Rock Calling and into smaller places like Brixton Academy or the Hammersmith Apollo. If that were to happen, I could see him being a bit like "Fuck this, let's get the band back together and play Wembley Stadium again" Good music doesn't have to be loud, offensive or attention grabbing you know. Noel will always be big name regardless - the fact the 'elder statesmen of rock' outsold contemporary acts in 2011 such as Kasabian and Arctic Monkeys is testament to his long standing appeal and endurance. 12 months isn't going to change that.

This record is great, reviews can't bring Noel down at this point and even if they could they'll be positive. Not because this is Noel Gallagher but because it's a really good album. The future looks nothing but bright for Noel from here.

Sam Smith, Adele etc etc. The music that's wins and sells is the most melodic and easy to sing to and connect with. Noel has the ability and talent to pull melodies and hooks out of his pocket. Incidentally, your name reminded me how cringe worthy and awful Kasabians performance at the Baftas was.

I don't want Oasis back, they were dying a slow horrible death. Noels song writing sounded lazy and stifled. He's rejuvenated and now sounds like he's having fun writing and producing great stuff. Oasis were great but they've had their day. I'm at a loss, really. Can we all agree that having Liam and Noel on stage performing Oasis songs is epic? Can we all agree that CY is a great album (but obviously won't impact the world as DM/MG did)? Can we all agree Noel Gallagher is in a fine form of songwriting at the moment. Isn't having Oasis doing concerts around the world with Noel Gallagher penning 90%+ of the songs the dream? (Liam can always do a side-project or contribute songs if it is deemed worthy by Noel - either way, I'm sure he'll find a way to record his material if he believes in strongly enough.) Can we all agree that Noel's attitude to the possibility of reuniting with Liam slightly better than it was a few years ago? It's cliche to say but you are CHASING YESTERDAY. Also, Oasis wasn't impacting the world post Morning Glory anyways. In America they went from darlings to a punchline for every bad rock n roll joke.

Those guys were begged for decades for a reunion. Then it happened. Now nobody talks about them anymore. At least not in the same vein. Something was lost in that reunion. Mystique died. We never even got a new album which probably wasn't turning out well.

I'd agree that they've never lived up to their debut. The British music press really beats the drum for them. Like they are forcing them onto the music scene at times by saying this is what a rock band should be. Also, the bands ego started to annoy me 2-3 years ago. They act like they've had Oasis level impact in the UK and globally. That's total fiction.

Like someone rightly said above, Oasis were dying, a band worn out of ideas and albums way below the quality we expect. Sorry but best thing that ever happened was Oasis splitting up and Noel going solo.

Sorry but best thing that ever happened was Oasis splitting up and Noel going solo. Noel once described Oasis as becoming a bad marriage. Divorce was looming. I think happiness was found for most involved outside Liam. Andy and Gem got their songs featured more. Had more creative control. Noel obviously is enjoying a revival on the solo front and Chris is touring/session playing as always.

Sorry but best thing that ever happened was Oasis splitting up and Noel going solo. The two things that have rejuvenated Noel are 1, Ditching Oasis. This produced a better album in NGHFB and 2, Ditching Sardy which has produced an even better album in CY. I think Oasis laterly pulled him down with the shit songwriting by the other members and "delegation" of band duties etc.

They're not even working class - they are as comfy middle class as you can get. And I'm sick to death of their 'Rent-A-Noel' quotes in the media time and time again. They are about as offensive as a foul mouthed rant from Philip Schofield. And don't even start me off about their later 'music'.

If you run down the songs Liam, Gem & Andy wrote for Oasis, it's no surprise Noel felt that way.

As much a it pains probably a lot of people (maybe on here also) the stone roses were never as relevant as their heritage was made out to be. Their epic demise made them more copy worthy than their amazing album did. (and it was amazing and did create a mini movement). Also the way the came back full of lies of album (in my opinion). Noel's already outright said it'll be for the money which is honest and people can digest. The oasis reunion would be in different leagues to probably any other band the 'roses, the smiths, the jam because of what oasis did culturally in the UK on a country wide scale, which is unprecedented except from the beatles

Tom and Serge are the only current musicians that can revival some of Noel's most outlandish musical boasts.

The oasis reunion would be in different leagues to probably any other band the 'roses, the smiths, the jam because of what oasis did culturally in the UK on a country wide scale, which is unprecedented except from the beatles It really wouldn't. Most of those bands are capable of better live performances than Oasis - judging from their live solo performances. Apart from the hardcore Oasis fanbase, there really wasn't an outright cry of disapproval when they split. It was the usual arguments about how they were long past their sell by date and more a shrug of the shoulders than significant cultural moment in the UK. There's no way back from that. And I think all the other bands have as much of a cultural legacy in the UK as Oasis - they may not have been as big as Oasis but their stock has risen over the years.
