Figured it needs its own thread.
As of now, this song is tops for me on the album, which is a damn fine album. When this came on it absolutely blew me away. I saw people say "I wish it lasted forever." Just a magical sound. Makes me wanna drunkenly dance on a tropical beach at night. Also the guitar bits throughout the song are an amazing touch.

I fucking love the keyboard/synth blasts. And yes its my fave on the record so far.
And then it gets to the 3 minute mark and that guitar just serrates my fucking guts.

Noel wrote "Falling Down" for the second time and - surprisingly - god bless him for that.
Brilliant tune, love the 'sentimental' and sad vibe.

I get a SBAJF vibe with it. I like this one better than that one though. It grew on me from listen 1 to listen 2. I dig the lyrics and the guitar solo.

I don't understand some of the praise it's getting to be honest, where is the melody? Am I missing something?

The verses sound like the verses in "Salvation" by The Cranberries. Good song but I keep singing "All the kids with heroin eyes don't do it, don't do it". lol

I don't understand some of the praise it's getting to be honest, where is the melody? Am I missing something? It's hard to explain, but what I think it is, is there is a lot going on at the same time, but in a way that flows perfectly. Nothing jumbled or muddy. And its very hypnotic, Noel's singing goes with it perfectly. Like it just goes so well and never stumbles, while keeping your attention the whole time.

I've only heard it once but I didn't remember the melody. Same goes for You Know We Can't Go Back.

Yeah not even close to Falling Down, I love Falling Down but The Song That Remains The Same shits all over FD!

This album is not as much about melodies as grooves... fine grooves.

My mum has been diagnosed with a kind of alzheimers in an early age (she's 60) and she's rapidly losing here memory. While The Song Remains The Same absolutely knocks the ball out of the park on the topic, Especially the first verse/chorus really hits me.
Thanks Noel

One of my fav'. Really great tune. Most of the songs are better than most of the songs from NGHFB. And it reminds too of Boys & Freaks.

This reminds me of a 80s or early 90s tune by someone like the cure or smiths but I cant put my finger on which one. Any ideas what it could be?

One of the many highlights. Noel delivers on this one, and how. Impressed.

It's definitely one of the weaker tracks for me. It just doesn't hook me like the others.

The most pleasant surprise of the album, in my opinion. Virtually untalked about beforehand, but wonderful.
