Love it, killer tune and melody. Sparkles and bubbles all the way through.

The most pleasant surprise of the album, in my opinion. Virtually untalked about beforehand, but wonderful. Kind of like Broken Arrow in this regard.

The most pleasant surprise of the album, in my opinion. Virtually untalked about beforehand, but wonderful. Kind of like Broken Arrow in this regard. I remember Broken Arrow as a tune that quietly became a favourite for most people from the first album. Wasn't hyped but it did the business - still in my top three from that album. Great tune and would have been arguably the highlight on any of the latter Oasis albums I think.

This is very Part of the Queue with regards to the sentiment, atmosphere, and lyrical content. In fact, the lyrics are brilliant. Easily makes it into my top 3 from the album (The Dying Of The Light, Lock All The Door, The Song Remains The Same). The unsung hero of a song that is actually so heroic. Get in, Noel.
This album is fucking fantastic.

Happiness packed into four minutes of soundbytes. His vocals sound so sincere on this, too.

It's good, I like it, but after a few listens and still not being able to remember much of it, I think that for me, this is one of the weaker songs.

while the song remains the same might become one of my gallagher all time favs. there is a certain vibe to it which can't be explained with words. in that aspect it's very similiar to alone on the rope.

Beautiful song. The lyric 'Find me a place where the sun shines through the rain' is one of the best Noel has ever written

Beautiful song. The lyric 'Find me a place where the sun shines through the rain' is one of the best Noel has ever written must be because it has "shine" and "rain" in it.

My mum has been diagnosed with a kind of alzheimers in an early age (she's 60) and she's rapidly losing here memory. While The Song Remains The Same absolutely knocks the ball out of the park on the topic, Especially the first verse/chorus really hits me. Thanks Noel xx I thought you were joking at first, as we all know the usual content of a Noel Gallagher lyric...but no, you're right, now that I think about it, those lyrics are actually quite thought-provoking. This only makes me love this beautiful tune even more. The chorus of Rockin' Chair always gets me, because it reminds me of when my own mum was ill, so I know how you feel a bit there... Sorry to hear about your mum by the way, terrible thing, and at that age as well, it's not fair

I'm listening to it again for the first time today and I'm going to say it again: THIS IS ONE OF NOEL'S BEST EVER SONGS. It's so depressingly wistful. And it's exactly something I can currently relate to. The man is a fucking genius for this track alone.

Grows on me with every listen. I love the drumming (kinda like Falling down and Part of the Queue as some of you already pointed out) and everything else about it. Definitely one of the best on the album for me.

FUCKING BRILLIANT ALL OF THIS IS.......
It's a shame how a memory fades to gray. We let love get lost in anger, chasing yesterday
Find me a place where the sun shines through the rain Find me the pleasure in the pain While the song remains the same, let it go on and on and on...
Taking you back to the town where I was born 'cause I'm tired of being a stranger and I'm miles from home.

Not really getting the love for this. I think the chorus (?) has too much noise going on to stick in the mind.
