Great album, 9/10 imo and great to see it getting great reviews from the genuine fans. The Right Stuff fave at moment but tbh it's changed a few times, love almost all the tracks, ITHOTM definately least fave song but it's still a decent song which shows how good this album is.
Reading through the majority are loving it, seems a few Liam fanboys have just awoken, time for Little James & Love Like A Bomb for you lot!
Well done Noel. Noel must produce his own albums here on in, best produced album he's been part of... Bar none!!

I can confirm that The Eagles and Led Zeppelin have already filed suit over The Girl with X-Ray Eyes

Noel should play the Mexican on SNL, so Will Ferrell can play the cowbell with his gut hanging out

Are you people seriously comparing The Right Stuff with High Horse Lady because of the number of the chords? Oh god...

Get off your High Horse Lady is pure trash. Boring and definitely a throw-away tune by Noel.

At first couple listens, I am disappointed. There have been songs from the solo career that have grown on me and I am open to that possibility, however...
Riverman - Noel reportedly said the saxophone was killed by the 80s and I agree. This song does not dispute this statement. I'd only be shocked if the saxophonist did not have a ponytail. It's okay, but doesn't do anything for me. Sounds like a weaker Alone on the Rope.
In the Heat of the Moment - Some brilliant mad audiophile out there made a version from the instrumental removing the Na-Na-Nas and it allows this one to shine. Sounds great in the absence.
The Girl With the X-Ray Eyes - A tune with a distracting rhyme scheme. I was hopeful for this one being a psychedelic romp but found a syrupy/poppy throwaway.
Lock All the Doors - Prototypical oasis first single. It is everything I wanted Four Letter Word to be. Can't help but imagine the Liam snarl filling stadiums with this.
The Dying of the Light - The sound check version is so strong I worried this would overblow the melody like the polished versions of Stop the Clocks and I Wanna Live in a Dream (In My Record Machine), but no. Strongest track on the record and an instant classic for the Gallagher canon.
The Right Stuff - A duet with a lady. The blue-eyed soul you'd expect from Michael Bolton or Michael McDonald. Embarrassingly bad and a song I never thought Noel would record. The fucking saxophone...
While the Song Remains the Same - Noel can write songs like this in his sleep, by-product of his brilliance. Not my favorite. He has average tunes like this without appeal i.e. Magic Pie or Where Did It All Go Wrong? M'eh.
The Mexican - Very bad. Two songs this bad on one album is disconcerting. Nothing redeeming here: Wah-wah-wah-wah-wah-wah-wah-wah-wah-wah.
You Know We Can't Go Back - Very good pop song with the exuberance of Round Our Way. Still got it.
The Ballad of the Mighty I - Great single typical of the new direction. With so many big solos, I wonder why Mr. Marr's presence isn't felt more, but can't argue with the end result.
Honorable mention for Do the Damage - Grew on me quite quickly. I heard it was originally the album's lead track and while it doesn't not have to be first, 10 songs with many missteps warrants the addition of a great tune. Do the damage, kid.
Overall, too much of a Bowie influence for my taste. I only hope the deluxe edition with flesh out the total songs enough to disregard the five tracks I'll likely skip.
Blimey, you make it seem as if singing with a female is wrong. Sexist much? 'I WANT PISS THROWING YOBS TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH NOEL, NOT SOME GIIIRRLLL!!!'. Are you 5 years old with a 'I don't like girls' attitude? Or is just 'gaaaaaaaaaay' as some pathetic individuals would say? Broaden your horizons if that's really a problem. He obviously doesn't see what the song was trying to stylize.

At no point does it say singing with a female is an issue. Project much? The song itself is tired, trite retread as though every yacht rocker had not covered it. I know everyone on here is expected to fawn all over the album, but I only liked half of it. Sorry our opinions differ.

UGHF's FIRST IMPRESSIONS Riverman9/10 Nice relaxing tune - think of Dido at her best... multiply it by 2 and then add the Noel Gallagher stamp of approval (oh, and a saxophone!!) In The Heat Of the Moment8.5/10 We've all heard this. Good pop song by our Noel. Next! The Girl With The X-Ray Eyes8.5/10 Echoes of Bowie, The Eagles, The Masterplan... a mudpie of musical influences. Every second of this song you feel as if you've heard before in another. A weird listening experience to say the least... but quite enjoyable Lock All The Doors10/10 Brilliant tune. Pure Oasis. Get ready for a trip back to the 90's! An Epic B-Side for the Be Here Now Era. The Dying of The Light10/10 Classic Noel. Rest assured, the production is spot-on. Next! The Right Stuff7.5/10 Another relaxing tune. Very boring until Noel decides to do something about it, then it kind of makes sense. Nice solo, though. Meh While The Song Remains The Same8/10 Reminds me a bit of the Lightning Seeds... not a bad thing! The Mexican7.5/10 Meh. Didn't really do anything for me. Bit of a plodder. Think a poor song by Kasabian. MIGHT grow on me. You Know You Can't Go Back9.5/10 Loved it on first listen. Wistful nostalgia is something Noel does so very well. The Ballad of the Mighty I8.5/10 Good song to walk to when you're feeling it! All in all, Chasing Yesterday is a VERY apt title for this collection of songs, I think. Well done, Mr. Gallagher.

I second that, I'm sure that in six months, everybody will hear only three or four tracks of this album, I hope revolution song be a highlight, now everyone gets hyped and overexited for the leak, just be objective

Apologies, wrong song I was reading. By the way, how does the album flow - is it good or seem a bit disjointed? The version we have at the moment have long pauses between the songs and very obvious breaks where tracks should flow into each other. So it does sound a bit disjointed at the moment. Hopefully the real thing will sound much better. The piano at the start of Mighty I continues from the end of You Know We Can't Go Back.

Apologies, wrong song I was reading. By the way, how does the album flow - is it good or seem a bit disjointed? Feels like a collection of singles from Noel Gallagher (some good, some bad) Having "The Ballad of the Mighty I" as the end track seems strange (feels as if it should appear in the first half of the album). Haven't listened to the album in order, but indeed, looking at the tracklisting after having heard all the songs it does have seem to have a disjointed feel. After all, some of the songs on the album are very old (Lock All The Doors) to quite old (Dying of the Light) to new (X-Ray eyes et all) so they don't really reflect a certain time-period of Noel's songwriting? Feels more like a best-of in terms of flow, I'd say. With this line of thinking, the title ''Chasing Yesterday'' makes perfect sense in a way.

Noel said from the FB Q&A that no two tracks put side by side from this album would match, or seem right - or words to that effect anyway. I don't mind that it doesn't quite flow or follow, makes for some variance and stops it sounding samey?

These numbered scores are exactly why I never include scores in any review I do for a game, album, movie, etc. People base their opinions off of numbers other people give without getting the chance to read or listen to a well done examination. Better to have spoken/written opinions.

Numbered scores are completely meaningless, subjective and only relative to other songs.
It's much better to try to describe a song's characteristics and say how you connect with it emotionally.
