Abosolutely love the album! 9/10 rating definitely! But whenever I hear that chorus on Riverman, all I can think of is Green Day's Boulevard of Broken Dreams. Which is kinda funny, because Noel absolutely hates Green Day.
Also, are the obvious chords to The Masterplan messing with anyone else's minds in X Ray Eyes? Because it's certainly getting to me.

Noel should hire Flood and Howie B who produced that album. At the very least, someone like him, like he did seeking out David Holmes. Hopefully he looks down that avenue for the next album. I'd like to see many shades of Noel. His pop rock albums like HFB and CY but also an electronic and acoustic album. He did mention a remix EP in the works possibly. So, could that be the electronic/Hacienda flared side of Noel coming with it?

So, could that be the electronic/Hacienda flared side of Noel coming with it? It's definitely a side to Noel which many of us would love to see him explore. If he's dipped his toes in the water this time around, he needs to take a dive from then top board next time round. He's mates with Bono, hopefully he will encourage him to push boundaries next album as U2 were a fairly standard meat and potatoes rock band in the early 80s who successfully pushed the boundaries in the 90s. So no Noel, you can't use your apparent 'limiitations' as an excuse..... Because we've already heard what the results are when you do things differently and they are brilliant.

I'm sure that Dave Sardy could help him push those boundaries.

Does anyone else hate the sax in Riverman? Such an unpleasant sound and completely unnecessary That sax solo makes me want to rip off all my clothes and dance around the house naked. Yeah that's right.

Does anyone else hate the sax in Riverman? Such an unpleasant sound and completely unnecessary Definitely unnecessary... I bet he had these instruments in the studio and just picked one to use he would never do. It just doesn't fit. I wonder how it ends up when played live.

Not to mention, Damon Albarn has expressed interest in working with Noel, Noel vice versa, and we know how Albarn's done a wide variety of things over the years. That would be a fun collaboration to see imo.

The first minute or so of the "In The Heat of The Moment" remix from the deluxe edition reminds me of how U2 sounded on POP. That's a good thing. Man that is such a fantastic and underrated record, I must give it a listen again soon. So many great chunees.

Does anyone else hate the sax in Riverman? Such an unpleasant sound and completely unnecessary Seriously? It's some of the best, most expressive and understated sax playing I've ever heard on a pop/rock album.

Does anyone else hate the sax in Riverman? Such an unpleasant sound and completely unnecessary Complete opposite for me I've always said that the music world needs more saxophones. So many songs can be made better by adding some brass or a saxophone solo - worked in CY, worked for Beady Eye.

Does anyone else hate the sax in Riverman? Such an unpleasant sound and completely unnecessary Sure do, I don't mind it on The Right Stuff but I really don't like that one. But on Riverman I skip the sax parts. The beginning up until the sax bit in the middle is great.
