The Great
Riverman Dying Of The Light The Right Stuff You Know We Can't Go Back In The Heat Of The Moment Ballad Of The Mighty I
The Alright
Lock All The Doors The Girl With The X-Ray Eyes
The Don't Really Care
While The Song Remains The Same The Mexican
That's how I'd rank them myself, really enjoyable album apart from a couple.

After first listen:
1. The Dying Of The Light 2. Lock All The Doors 3. The Girl With The X-Ray Eyes 4. The Mexican 5. The Right Stuff 6. Riverman 7. While The Song Remains The Same 8. Ballad Of The Mighty I 9. You Know You Can't Go Back 10. In The Heat Of The Moment
I'm sure this will change very much after just a few more listens. I think the production is better on this album, sounds and feels mer alive and raw, if that make sense. Appreciate that the guitar solos are back, too. I'm glad he didn't involved Dave Sardy on this album.

While the Song Remains the Same 10. Lock All the Doors I now feel like ballad of the mighty I is the best track on the album. Bravo to him for creating something very different. I'll need a few good listens to decide if I like it (which I do) or really like it? Anyone else think that the dying of the light is not as good as the demo?

I can see now why Do The Damage was relegated to a b-side. Riverman is glorious.

I hated the soundcheck version and wasn't looking forward to the albumversion at all, but I actually think it's amazing. And it gives me goosebumps.

One full listen so far. Bit front-loaded like NGHFB1 but the production on this one is so much better!

9/10 The Dying Of The Light, You know We Can't Go Back, The Mighty I 8/10 Riverman, Lock All The Doors, The Right Stuff, In The Heat Of The Moment, The Mexican, While The Song Remains.. 7/10 The Girl With The X Ray Eyes
So 8.5/10 (by any standard) for me, which in 2015 is absolutely brilliant

Riverman You Know We Can't Go Back The Dying of the Light Ballad of the Mighty Eye While the Song Remains the Same The Right Stuff Girl With the X-ray Eyes Lock All the Doors In the Heat of the Moment The Mexican
That was really difficult. I'll be honest. The only position that is firm is that The Mexican is on the bottom.
Really strong album IMO.

1. Riverman 9/10 - Eptimises cool. Nice little chorus and guitar solo is fantastic 2. In The Heat of the Moment - 8/10. I don't know why but since the album leaked i have liked this better. Fits in nicely. 3. The Girl With The X-Ray Eyes - 10/10 - What a song. Loved every bit of it. Very Bowie-esque 4. Lock all the Doors - 9/10 Great change in pace. This is Oasis 94-96, and who's complaining. Be interesting to hear Liam on this - he would blow it away! But Noel doesn't disappoint either. 5. The Dying of the Light 9/10 - Lovely little song that builds and builds. Probably the biggest anthem on the album. 6. The Right Stuff 9/10 - Love stuff like this. So unexpected it takes you on a journey and doesn't let you down! 7. While The Song Remains The Same - 7/10. One first listen i thought it was a bit of a filler but on repeated listens its grown and hope it continues, for me there is echoes of The Smiths in the song. 8. The Mexican 8/10 - Interesting song very groovy and catchy as well. I basically like it, and could grow on me even more. 9. You Know We Can't Go Back - 9/10 Love this song as well, so Springsteen, Potential single, so catchy and uplifting. 10. The Ballad of the Mighty I - 9/10. Thought it was great when it came out and still now. Perfect way to finish the album off.
Overall Noel has produced the goods here. A very interesting album that takes you on a journey and leaves you yearning for more 9/10

This list will absolutely change as time goes on. But its current standing:
1. Riverman (Phenomenal lyrics. Gas Panic-esque.)
2. You Know We Can't Go Back (Step Out mixed with I Hope, I Think, I Know, it's a good throwback song reminiscent of his earlier work. Noel always claimed he couldn't ever write another song like this...well he just did.)
3. In The Heat Of The Moment (Nananas or not, good song with a strong chorus. It defines this era and the direction of the album and is a good song for airplay, which is why I think it was chosen as lead single.)
4. The Right Stuff (Groovy and addictive) Would love to hear AA version.
5. Ballad of the Mighty I (Definitely one of the most far out songs Noel's done. Nothing really else like it.
6. Lock All The Doors (A classic. Would give a higher rating if it were Liam on vocals. The verse turned out brilliant though.)
7. Dying Of The Light (Beautiful, but we've heard it before for the most part so it doesn't really seem fresh to me.)
8. Girl With X Ray Eyes (The more I listen to this song, the more I enjoy it. A wonderful odd, bouncy melody. However, Noel's vocals seem to strain in this and the chorus is relatively weak)
9. While The Song Remains The Same (It's a lovely number, I can see that, but there's no hook for me. I just don't get it. It does seem like a grower, but on my third listen, it just doesn't invoke any emotion other than a question mark. Still have hopes that its appeal will click. But examining the forums here, it does seem to fall high on someones list or very low.)
10. The Mexican ( Strange tune. Shit lyrics. Verse melody is alright. Don't really care for the chorus yet. Do The Damage should have replaced this one. This is b-side material. Someone made the comparison of Wind Up A Dream...it's spot on. I still like it to a degree just as WTSRTS, but it doesn't do much for me. )

Only two weak songs on the album for me, The Mexican and WTSRTS. I enjoy TGEXE more and Riverman less than most people it seems but have no complaints after about twenty listens besides the whaaaa whaaaas in the Mexican. I think a lot of people after hearing the first two singles thought we were gonna get Nghfb part 2. This album is definitely not that.
