I don't think so, but it's better than any other post-Oasis material.
My current ranking:
1. Be Here Now 2. Definitely Maybe 3. (What's the Story?) Morning Glory 4. Standing on the Shoulder of Giants 5. Chasing Yesterday 6. Dig Out Your Soul 7. Don't Believe the Truth 8. BE 9. Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds 10. Heathen Chemistry 11. Different Gear, Still Speeding

Probably no record ever will be as important for me as WTSMG, DM and BHN but on first listen, I think this is the best oasis-related album since BHN

Production wise? Hell yes! You've gotta be an idiot to think otherwise. As for the songs themselves, time will tell for sure, but I'm confident in Riverman and Dying of the Light standing the test of time.

I cant compare them like that. DM and MG represent a time in my life I will never re-live and listening to them now bring me back to it in a way. It goes beyond just judging them as pieces of music. They were essentially pivotal records in my life. These records don't come along often and usually have to hit at a specific point in life. Is this existentialist/philosophical crap? Probably, but DM and MG are of their time.
I don't think its even fair to Noel to compare all his prior work to current. Obviously, its going to be done. I understand that, but 20 years of life is a long time.
Its easily the best album post-Oasis any member of that band has made and it's definitely stronger than most of the later Oasis albums, but his goal was different with Oasis albums. This is a different beast. Chasing Yesterday may be Noel's first real "headphone" album. It's got a lot of depth to it and hearing it in perfect fidelity will go a long way towards molding my opinion of it further. That said, it blows away his first solo album and I liked that fine. That felt more like Oasis with Noel fronting them. This is much more of a "solo" record. I can only hear Liam fitting on literally one track. This is Noel's album.

Chasing Yesterdsy needs a better cover to deliver the whole package.

Its a fucking good album, not bothered about comparisons to past material just yet but we've waited over 17 years for an album this good

So far it ranks like this
1. Definitely Maybe 2. (WTS)MG? / Be Here Now 3. Chasing Yesterday
Which is pretty darn good.

Obviously no. Mainly because it's not THAT good, but also because of the context, as others have pointed out, and that is not Oasis. Liam's 94-00 voice on some of the songs would've been something.
Based on experience I need at least a month or two to give an unbiased view of the album. Spontaneously, it may clearly be the best album since SOTSOG.

The Dying Of The Light is the best Wonderwall rehash Noel has done.

With all due respect, Dave Sardy can fuck off.
This is better than SOTSOG and DOYS. And I really like both those albums. Certainly better than DBTT and HC.

No but it's pretty fucking good. Honestly though, I don't think we're ever gonna get albums as good as DM or WTSMG

The Dying Of The Light is the best Wonderwall rehash Noel has done. Nah, that honor goes to DYKWIM. But they're both better than Wonderwall anyway

They are impossible to compare. Musically wise alot of its better imo. I imagine most of us were young teenagers when dm and mg were out. I cant ever imagine me saying an album is better then DM. Those albums bring me back every time I listen to them.

Chasing Yesterdsy needs a better cover to deliver the whole package. That cover makes Noel look like some ghetto rapper from the early 1990s. Seriously. What the fuck.
