Is that the final day for the album release or are there countries with later release dates? Isn't the US another day later? Ah yes, thanks. The big one (in terms of potential customers, not the album release itself. It'll probably go unnoticed over there).

Earlier this afternoon I happened to walk past my local HMV ten minutes after all the shops had closed, I could see the staff stacking handfuls and handfuls of the Chasing Yesterday vinyls and CDs pride of place on the first shelves as you walk through the door. I realised I was stood in a pretty much empty shopping centre with my face against the glass like a child eyeing up a new toy.
It got me really excited to head over there in the morning and FINALLY get my hands on it.

Before I left Japan, I took these photos. They show what I meant by the "recommended tracks" by Tower Records. As you can see, Tower Records recommends 6/10 of the tracks (the yellow box with the numbers): This is a very good number, so it seems that Tower Records likes the album. As a comparison, this is what Sam "4 time Grammy winner" Smith's display looked liked: From what I saw 3 or 4 recommended tracks from a new album was the norm. So Noel having 6 from just 10 songs is a big of a success I think. The great thing about getting a Japanese perspective is that the Japanese do not let bias affect their opinion. It's purely based on the music. In the UK, Noel might get a lower score because he shook hands with Tony Blair before, for example. Over there, they don't know about all that stuff so their opinions are purely based on the music. Another interesting thing is that the tracks they like are basically the same as what we think here. The only surprise for me was that they didn't like TDOTL. Japan takes all preconceptions away and judges purely on the music. Over here in the UK, we live in a country that is typically pretentious and snooty in attitudes, so Noel's bound to get hate from some quarters. It's typical territory that comes from a feeling of Western superiority - that same attitude that brought imperialism. Did I just link Oasis critics to imperial brutality? Yes. Yes I did.

A lot of Japanese perspective on this thread; Oasis were big there in the 90s, as were Blur. The Manics not as big but these days are enjoying more success.
I got the Japanese deluxe also, and awaiting the new album from Japanese legends B'z (19th album out this week). My wife is Japanese and introduced me to them.
Playing Chasing Yesterday to my daughter right now, she's 17 months but music mad, if if captures her attention, then its good. Subarashii desu!

Japan as a whole or the reviewers out there? i've not seen any Japanese reviews but amazon reviews have HFB both at 4.5* in uk and japan. We know the Gallaghers are both still very popular out there. Noel did well last album cycle. The oasis exhibition went there when it pulled out of Manchester, the pics / few vids you could see it was very busy. Even Beady Eye did an arena show out there for BE and the album performed just as (good)/ badly as it did here. (Im not sure what the Sam smith stuff signifies he was unknown their 12 months ago and that album been out 9 months so think his display would be similar to a Noel release the week its coming out with his popularity? (is irrelevant just not sure why was relevant why i ask)

Fucking hell, they still haven't dispatched mine from the official store, and if they do later today the earliest it'll be here is Friday. Otherwise I'll get it next tuesday. I might just give in and listen to it on Spotify. I have premium so the sound quality should be pretty good.

Resisted the leak and looking forward to going into town this lunchtime and picking up my copy.
Only trouble is that I got a lift in today so can't play it in my car and don't currently have anything to play CDs on at home.
Anyone know if the deluxe version comes with a download code?

Did you completely resist the leak? I'd heard the first two singles as I'd assume most people have done. Apart from that I'm clean. I almost caved when I listened to 30 seconds of The Girl With X-Ray Eyes on the iTunes stream a couple of days back but I gave myself a quick slap and that soon put me back in line.

The Deluxe CD? No. The vinyl comes with a CD though. Finally listened to it at 08:30 this morning even though it was delivered on Sat. Will I know all the words and chords before tomorrow in Belfast? Probably not, but I'll have them nailed for Sat in Glasgow!

I think I'm just going to stream it now, since I have no idea when the CD'll be arriving. I'm feeling ill, perhaps the album will make me feel better.

Haven't listen to it yet, waiting for America's release date. My record hasn't even dispatched from the website, ugh I'm gonna have to buy a digital copy of it because that won't get here till god knows when...why do I get stuff faster from Japan than I do from England?

II've just played it twice through now- glad I held out,.. Forget the sax, the guitar solo in Riverman OMG, DOTL, what an epic, the Right stuff is so awesome, same vibe as alone on the rope which I love, WTSRTS, love it at 3 mins when I t just explodes- Mexican is ace- nowhere near as dirgy as some made out, the lead guitar is mint Ballad of the Mighty I is brill- The only one that disappoints for me is you know we can't go back- But at last he's got his lead guitar out again, love Noel's solos, I've been waiting for them to come out again like this for years. Majestic stuff- I'm so happy with it, and from the sound it's gonna be ace live. Well better than the first record.

I'm also going to hold off. It's coming out here on Friday week, so it's not very long to wait. I'm heading over to Glasgow on Thursday/Friday so hopefully I can pick up that HMV exclusive, and I'll give that a listen. I managed it anyway. Came out here on Friday. Enjoying it so far! Definitely much preferred taking it home and properly listening to it on vinyl/proper speakers than listening to it on youtube, or bootleg or whatever. Now onto all the dates of his Irish tour!!

I found a picture of some of you heroes who didn't give in to the temptation of the leak. Special shout out to those in Australia and New Zealand who are getting CY almost 2 weeks after Japan.

Got my copy of Japanese limited deluxe edition today and I've been listening to it again and again. I absolutely love the album. Suprisely loving "The Mexican", loving cow bell, loving "nanananana", loving "Solve My Mystery" (oops, Revolution Song), loving everything. Also got a free badge. I'm having a tough time of my life at this moment, but thanks Noel, your music cheers me up and giving me the power to carry on. It's really good to hear that the Noel's music has helped you to get through a tough period of your life. I struggle very much at times with life, but music has helped me through it also. When the album was announced last autumn I was a bit of a mess, and had a really hard time motivating myself to believe in that things could get better again. But that announcement of a new album, hearing a new Noel Gallagher song again, and the outlook to listening to the whole album in march, that helped me trying to try looking forward again. I'm really looking forward to the deluxe-edition cd arriving at the post-office/in my mailbox (I thought it had arrived yesterday when I got a note about a new delivery at the post office, but it turned out to be just my bachelor's degree diploma. What a bummer).

Listened to it 5 times now since last night's iTunes download (waited for the exact moment til it was available).
1st impression: WTF. The picture of the Stacey brothers in the gatefold sleeve! Haha didn't expect that at all.
2nd impression: I wish BOTMI wasn't released as a single before the album's release because I think I would have literally creamed in my pants listening to it as the concluding song on the album for the first time. I can only imagine how much more impressed I'd be with the album in that scenario.
Anyhow, the track rankings:
Ballad of the Mighty I - one of the best Noel's ever written
Lock all the Doors - love the Buzzcocks feel, its so loud and in your face, terrific chorus
The Right Stuff - can't get enough of this, its just incredible
While the Song... - to me, it sounds like what Falling Down was meant to be. Falling Down, all grown up.
You Know We Can't... - Sad but epic, has a very modern, sleek feel I didn't expect
Riverman - Very different from what I was expecting (Saxophone = Springsteen) but I really like it
The Dying of... - Still can't beleive I heard this in a soundcheck at an early HFB gig. Moodier than I predicted it would turn out, reminds me more of Weeping Willow though.
Girl with X Ray Eyes - A funny one, a bit ordinary at times, but momentous and lifting at times
The Mexican - the crack kid lyric is terrible, chorus a bit too BRMC but a decent song for sure still
In the Heat... - Never was too keen on it but it's alright. Still can't figure out what Noel says at the beginning.
The first 5 in this list are incredible, the next four are pretty good, the last is just okay. Loving the album. I'm not sure if I should say this and wade into these waters, but I think this album complements BE nicely, both albums experiment and stretch their sounds further than usual with some lovely atmospherics too.
