It will actually be pretty fun for us listeners to watch the the comments of the non-listeners for the first time. We're a week and a half ahead of the game, and for some we will be 2 weeks ahead. Our opinions will be more mature and honest about it, which gives an interesting perspective to those who will just then be listening and giving their initial thoughts about the album. Should spark some great discussions here soon.

Great thread. Seems like I am not the only guy left who still prefers the old school way of celebrating a new record by one his favorite artists :-) This means leaving the house, going to a record store, carrying the vinyl record back home, sit back, open a beer and listen to the record whilst looking at the cover and reading the liner notes.

Had to think of the quote that had always been included in Pulp booklets: "NB: Please do not read the lyrics whilst listening to the recordings." And this is so true. Hey @iamdog When is the physical CD actually available in shops in Japan? I will be in Japan for the release and want to go to Tower Records to buy it on the day of release. Officially it's the 25th, but I heard that albums are often released a day earlier in Japan. Does that mean it will be in Tower Records on the 24th? |

Only problem is that CDs in Japan are expensive. But it's worth it because it's Noel. |

Its not that I am reading the whole booklet whilst listening. This especially goes for reading the lyrics. In general I do not read lyrics at all. What I meant is that I am giving full attention to the record during the first listen of a record I was expecting a long time and I am really excited about. In fact I am just sitting, listen, maybe have a drink and grab the cover once in while. Of course those ceremonies are rare these days. But hey, we are talking about a new NG release :-) |

Does it count as listening to a leak if you hear live recordings before they are released? I heard the Hindu Times live recorded from the Barrowlands before the song was officially released. Haven't done the leak thing since.

I'm going to Tower Records in Shinjuku on Tuesday even though it doesn't come out till Wednesday officially. Apparently albums are released a day earlier in Japan.
