"We were all over the press with our new vision of psychedelia" Tbh, I had never heard of them before I got into Oasis. Yeah, same here, I got into Amorphous Androgynous almost straight after getting into Oasis/NGHFB as it was just before Shoot a Hole Into the Sun was released. When Gaz says that they 'were all over the press', it's true compared to the publicity they've been getting for the last 3 years anyway (and also probably true when compared to the early 2000's)

Could today get any worse? First the f**king brainwashed f**kwits vote the Tories back in and now this from AA. This album could have been magnificient - it could have shut up all the f**king whinging critics forever. Noel could have, to use his phrase, 'smashed it'. But no, he took the safe option - Noel Gareth Bale Gallagher.
Perhaps a change of management would help?

The guy is wanking himself over Right Stuff and Mexican backing tracks ? are you kidding me...
the whole guardian article is ridiculous. Of course Noel is insecure about his music, but that guy sounds like a complete vagina. “Imagine yourself as a voice actor.” He said: “Don’t ever fucking talk to me about being a voice actor!” I knew it wasn’t going to be easy.
Oasis lyrics have no depth ? WTF !

I believe that they edited stuff and probably made the story a bit more exciting, but let's be honest. Who cares? I don't give a fuck about "their side" or "interesting rock n roll facts". Give me the damn album already

It's a shame he's got a fear of experimenting because of the assumption that Oasis fan's won't like it. I think I speak for most people on this forum when I saw we all want to hear it.
Just because people comment on daily mail articles saying "i wish oasis reformed cuz wonderwall is really gd song lol" doesn't mean all of us fans are fucking idiots who's music collection consists of an Oasis album followed by 2015's number 1 singles. We are all genuine music fans.

I'm not too fussed. If Noel can take all that AA stuff and mix out the wailing female vocalists it might be worth releasing.
If he can't then there's not much chance of it being played in my house. My wife and teenage kids all love Noel but they'll actually switch off the stereo when the AA opera singers starts her nonsense.

If Noel recorded for four weeks and then the AA worked on it for *two years* it's not really a Noel Gallagher album is it! I think that's precisely the problem, regardless of the actual quality of the product or the musicians involved. Gaz Cobain comes across in interviews as having a massive ego. He seems to think his output as AA is the biggest musical revolution since The Beatles, I just hear a lot of cliched psychedelia. I wouldn't take his word as the absolute truth (nor Noel's for that matter). Also, Trout Mask Replica is far out. Pink Floyd and T-Rex are mainstream rock (although great one at that). Still, having someone like Gary Lucas playing on Noel's tunes would have been amazing. I mean, just to have a direct connection between Beefheart and Noel. I would have loved to hear the album just for that.

I have always thought Noel is actually more insecure than he appears to be. That arrogance and confidence is partially just attitude. Indeed. He's always been kinda of a loner of sorts. Will go out and party with dudes like Brand, but he keeps to himself as well. You can also get hints he's at least a little insecure because his humor is a bit self-deprecating at times. The biggest challenge for a lot of artists is the dichotomy between self-doubt and the ego. I've always imagined that when Oasis gigged that they'd all party then Noel would sneak out and just play his guitar in his hotel room.

By the way, I follow Gary Lucas on Facebook, and he just posted a link to the last interview and referred to the record as ' the great aborted Noel Gallagher psychedelic album'. Now, this is the first opinion about the matter I'm willing to trust as Gary has an impeccable musical taste.
I would love to hear what Paul Weller has to say about the album since he's probably heard it and I trust his opinion too. Also, he's worked with AA and is friends with Noel, so he might be somewhat objective about the matter.

Can't they just write their version of the whole thing on FB and then fuck off?

Can't they just write their version of the whole thing on FB and then fuck off? But that way it doesnt 'mythifies' the AA+NG sessions, even if its annoying for us, they know how to play the game. Also they are in speaking terms and the AA want to work with Noel in the future so doing that could do only harm to potential collaborations.

When will this nonsense end?
Don't like your story getting twisted? Then stop agreeing to do interviews. Speak for yourself. You have personal social media you can communicate to your fans with.
Pissed off that 2 years of work went down the drain? Then sue if you think you have a case. Or persuade Noel to have it released. Or leak it and risk criminal consequences.
If you don't want to do any of those things, then shut up about it already. What do you hope to accomplish by continuing to whine? I don't think Noel is going to be annoyed into releasing it. He's probably having a laugh about it all.

Yeah, I think he may have brought it up years before; however, in his public statement, he specifically based his departure from Oasis on his being constantly harassed (presumably by Liam). If Cobain's article is correct, then this increases the likelihood that his primary reason for leaving Oasis was to instead go solo. I think he wanted to go solo anyway, but didn't want to split up with Liam properly, then God knows what happened during that tour and that day in Paris and here we are I can't remember the quote word for word, but when interviewed on the 2009 tour Noel said Oasis needed to have a long break 4-5 years and for each band member to do their own thing for a while. So he was definitely wanting to do a solo album, but I'm not sure he wanted to split the band. That may have genuinely been a split second decision on the night of the (ding, ding) fight. Call me cynical but it's better to split up and get all the reformation press than just have a break though huh... If Oasis do get back together ticket prices will be mammoth if Noel can charge £60 solo!

This sums up Noel and that whole Amorphous Androgynous colaboration:
"He obviously loves that kind of music, but has no idea how to make it."
He liked those AA projects, but he doesn't know if people would accept a heavy psychedelic album by him, and how he would play those weird songs live?
This is what Noel thought at the time.

Gaz has posted on Facebook now, more or less the same stuff as in the comment on the Guardian article, but the last paragraph looks interesting...

This is almost getting as bad as the Noel vs Liam shite that they throw at each other through the media and their own social media. Maybe Noel just has a good knack of bringing that side out of people he had rubbed up the wrong way?

I think he's quoting this poem which they've used in one of their radio mixes before (a sample of the spoken version in the mix was later used at the start of their mix of Falling Down with "God, Revolution, Freedom", just without the 'fucks' in between)

If anyone was wondering, we wound up with only 33 minutes of the AA mixes.
I simply put together the two instrumental tracks of 'The Right Stuff', 'The Mexican', 'Shoot a Hole Into the Sun' and 'AKA... What A Life! (The AA Remix)' together in a iTunes playlist and sure enough... 33 amazing, far out minutes.
