I just downloaded the EP. The track in question is a nice, dancy one. And I'd bet that's Noel playing the awesome bassline. Credits in the YouTube video, Noel does indeed play the bass.

Thanks for heads up, Jim. I just purchased this digital EP. I always buy Weller's single via stereoboutique, but didn't receive an email about this EP. I'm gonna listen to it now.

I like it, it's cool. Is that two tracks recorded with the AA that Weller has released now? This and White Sky? I don't understand why it was all or nothing with Noel and the AA. He could have, for example, ended HFBs with one of their tracks.

Hopefuly Weller will release a physical format of this remix EP in the near future.

mossy, this remix EP contains 5 songs: 1. Crossing Over 2. Pick It Up (convergence Remix) 3. Saturns Pattern (StraightFace/Young Fathers Remix) 4. Phoenix (Weller/Kybert Remix) 5. Going My Way (Remixed by White Label) For about 6 Euro (4 Pounds for UK people) is worth to purchase it if you still haven't done it yet.

Crossing Over is actually a remix of the original AA Crossing Over. From AA's FB:
Exciting news to follow on our versions of 'CROSSING OVER ' our co-written/ co produced track with messrs Weller / Gallagher ....
Here's the version released yesterday on Paul's new 'SATURNs Peaks ' ep which is a remix of our original by 'Stan 'Kybert .... Disclaimer : 4 to the floor ain't nothing to do with us !

Why the mad face? Gaz looks like he could do with a good night's sleep. Nah he's fine- He is just getting into character for an AA inspired Hawkwind reunion with him fronting it!

It's says at the bottom of that page it is the Psychedelic Bubble Mix of Falling Down that is included. I wish the AA would release "cover" versions of the tracks they worked on with Noel as we're obviously not getting the album anytime soon. They created their own version of Falling Down for a MOJO Magazine free CD so do the same for The Mexican, The Right Stuff and any other tune they think is worth releasing. I'm sure Gaz mentioned a title along the lines of Crimson Rambler when he was posting a lot on FaceBook around the release of Chasing Yesterday and how they had reworked a version of the whole album.

I doubt they'll use any of Noel's material ever again. 2. Can they just do that?

Thanks, didn't see that bit, thought it was just credits and stuff further down Yeah, it looks like they'd probably want to release their versions, like they mentioned back in early December that there was 'exciting news to follow' on their original version of Weller's 'Crossing Over' but nothing from them since...

I'm not sure how it could work to be honest, but it's possible they have a writing / musical credit for some of the unreleased tracks like they do for Shoot A Hole Into The Sun so there maybe a loophole that allows them to release the song in their arrangement with a different vocalist for example and credit Noel for his role? Who knows, I'd just like to hear something from the sessions.

Who knows, I'd just like to hear something from the sessions. The loophole is pretty much the way you have said it Jim - AA can release a track co-written with Noel and simply pay him publishing royalties on any revenue accrued, but they cannot release a recording of Noel without his record label's permission, which as we know these days is himself via his own Sour Mash Records Ltd. I wish he could have actually had a bit of the "caution to the wind" attitude of some of the greats he professes to have loved over the years and just let the sessions come out in an unfinished state or after trusting someone else's judgement (i.e. AA). After all he trusted Dave Sardy and those records had his and his band's names on them

Such an intriguing song title, isn't it? I've been wondering how it possibly could sound since Gaz dropped the title and keep imagining a cross between Midnight Rambler and Shoot A Hole Into The Sun. That's the lowest common denominator, I guess.

Gaz doesn't really post that much about Noel, it just looks that way from this thread because people on this forum presumably would be a lot more interested in stuff relating to Noel than a lot of other stuff he posts... Also he gets asked questions about the shelved album/Noel collaborations a lot more than other stuff, so it's not surprising that he'll keep talking about it whilst people are still asking questions
