The song is mediocre so fuckin get over it already and stop talking about the solo or the atmosphere or other shit. Noel has written MANY great songs, but this one is on the bottom 20 for sure. It is not difficult to see that the melody is poor and generic.Only if you know shit about songwriting, you can defend this tune. Listen, anybody who grew up listening Lennon and McCartney tunes, knows a rich melody from a FORCED ,UNINSPIRED one.He is one of the top songwriters of the last 20 years for sure, but this tune is completely desperate and generic. It is not about personal opinion either. If this is a 8/10 tune, then what are A day in the life,Yesterday,Eleanor rigby, In my life, Let it be, Here comes the sun, Strawberry fields forever,Penny lane and the long and winding road and Here there and everywhere? 20/10? Stop trying to concvince yourselves that this a rtruly good song and simply enjoy it for what it is.A pleasant but slight, atmospheric tune. 4/10 for people who know what a good melody is and there are many on this forum. It's the dedicated fanboys who bring the quality of the conversation down. totally agree. Even Stranded on the Wrong Beach and that silly song Four Letter Word are better Nothing silly about Four Letter Word, mate

I can only speak for myself here, but I usually rate a song based on how it makes me feel, not on how big the chorus is, which chords are used or the melody. In my opinion I'd probably say Mighty I is a 7 or 8 outta ten. If you like to base your opinion on other things that's fine by me, but trying to dictate other peoples taste and force your musical snobbery down their throats just makes you come across as an utter vagina.

There are plenty of songs that I don't really like even though I know there's nothing wrong with them, and the other way around. Just like I know the Beatles are better than Oasis, but prefer listening to Oasis any day of the year. (That being said, there is nothing "objectively" bad about BOTMI. The songwriting is absolutely fine) That too.

Well I grew up with a lot of Beatles music being played in the house, but I love this song. I don't really see what that has to do with it anyway.
Why are you so angry about it? What are you trying to achieve anyway? Why are you insulting people over a song? Don't you have anything better to do? Do you want to put that much energy into this?

I don't think I've put any stock in spyrosfab4 opinion since he tried to convince everyone that DM and WTSMG were unlistenable in their recorded because they were too slow so posted mixes of them where he simply turned up the speed a touch and made Liam sound a bit more like a chipmunk and declare those mixes much better.
Does anyone else remember those atrocious mixes? I can't be the only one.

Poor Liam sounds like he is sing them with someone grabbing his balls and slowly twisting them. You know his rants about The Mighty I. Substitute in Live Forever and you just about get the virulence with which he talks about every Oasis recording.

Music is a complex matter, maybe more than politics or movies. It touches the soul, so i can understand people going far to defend or criticize something, as long as it's not insulting. Sometimes i even go far on this one because i feel nothing when i listen to Mighty I, and that's a first with Noel Gallagher. Even his worst songs from before, something was clicking in my head. This time, zero, none, nothing. Feels like background or elevator music to me. Ah well... let's hope the record makes me feel different. I'll look for those "remixes" you mention. As far as i'm concerned, DM and MG could use some Beatles-like remastering. But it would still listen to both versions : As an audiophile, id go for the remasters (those Beatles remasters are orgasmic for the ears)... but as an Oasis fans, the originals, coz they are amazing and captured a unique moment.

Beady’s Here Now told me to tell you guys that the coat the Noel steals in the video happens to be a coat Liam sold to that store, thus because Noel picked that coat, Oasis will reunite.
