Noel wasn't in that video, he couldn't be arsed with them anymore. Those are all lookalikes in wigs! Noel doesn't wear red trousers ffs! Wow, it must have been really fucking hard to find people who are able to look as grumpy as Noel. I've honestly never seen a person who has the ability to look that grumpy - the grumpy cat is not a person. Lol! I get told I look suicidal most of the time, I wonder if Noel gets told to cheer up every 5 fucking minutes like I do That regular annoyance would make anyone sulky...just mind your own fucking business! It was hell when I worked on a checkout xD I'll fucking smile when I leave off, I'm not happy to pack bags for arseholes like you! ...rant over! ..Whatever, scowling's cool! Women don't like guys who smile too much anyway I've had about 20 listens to this song now and I definitely love it, it didn't need to grow for me as I previously stated I love messy, unorthodox song structures and unusual tempo/key changes and 99% of anything Noel's ever released. 8/10 for me, 10/10 by 2010's standards. Some posters I like on here, who usually talk a lot of sense don't seem to the like the song for whatever reason and that's fine. But I do like how most people who dislike it just can't get their head around something a bit different and wanted Hindu Times/SCYHO part 2 instead. I think that bodes well for Noel and this album, he's gone very slightly left-field before, but these new songs all have a bit of an edge and much more energy than his other recent stuff. Fio's (awesome) cover proves there's a great melody in there as well so the 'production polishing a turd' line is complete rubbish. I don't totally understand why they're struggling with it though, it's not exactly modern day Radiohead or even as out-there as SAHITS. When I first heard it I was expecting to read it receiving almost universal acclaim on here, it's miles better than What A life for example, oh well! I hope you guys come around and start enjoying it.

Maybe I'm not British enough, but where's this "massive" guitar solo by Johnny Marr?!
Did I miss something? It's all the media talked about for months…and I don't hear anything resembling a guitar solo.

That's fair, but still, where is it?? Is it that last bit before the ending? Sounds more like a couple notes, not a "solo" the way the media and Noel talked it up to be.

Solo starts at 2:40 and ends at 3:00.
Anyone notice the harp, I think that is a nice touch.

He said he invited Marr to play on it, obviously implying with an electric guitar. I think the media just reported it as a big solo without ever hearing it. Marr embellished the song with some beautiful, subtle separate melodies that take the song to another level. A lesser artist probably would have gone full, screaming solo, but Marr has added something much better to the song, something much more inventive and interesting imo.

My cover, hope you like it guys Not perfect by any means but fun to play Blimey this is absolutely stunning. Deserves it very own thread to make sure nobody misses it. You've captured the melancholy feel of the tune perfectly. Well done pal. You've really done justice to this tune - hearing your alternative version makes me appreciate this great song even more. That's a real talent you've got, keep it up! Nice cover, has he gone a bit heavy on the autotune though?

Never used autotune and never will. Only some compression, light EQ, and reverb

As jordan71421 has kindly pointed out earlier, the Mighty I does have echoes of "Teotihuacan". Noel must really love those notes. Very similar.

I was afraid about how the song would sound live, but now I see it can sound different but still great

A little late to the party (I had listened to it in the morning though).
Didn't have high expectations since Noel said it was a bit disco, that's not really my taste.
Liked the lyrics, strings, Noel's vocal. Just think it's missing something, since it builds, builds and builds, but it gets a little repetitive in the end, imho.
Maybe with time I will like it more. I think it'll work as the album closer.
At the same time I didn't love it, it's a good song, and I can't wait to hear the rest of the album!

Noel was probably a bit inspired by this tune. At least the intro piano sound similar.

After listening to an iTunes purchase I have to say it sounds even better than previous. Probably listened to it 2-3 times on the way to work and another 3-4 times coming home. Then I got the iTunes version and I'm def loving the tune. Can't wait to hear the rest.
