No idea what all the hype of Alone on the Rope is all about; it's a Coldplay Parachutes rip off. Sounds nothing like parachutes? Where did you get your degree in music? Same school as Robbie Williams? I meant it sounds like a rip-off generally from the album, Parachutes. (Not the song). It would slot right on that album, no problem. |

having heard the whole song, i love it. great tune. though i see the "no single material" claims i don't really agree to be honest. sure it hasent gotten a singalong chorus, but everything about this is fucking awesome. very unpredictable to be honest. most melodic song noel's put out, i'd dare to say even more than what a life. it's not as instant as what a life, but it's pretty fucking good.

After listening to an iTunes purchase I have to say it sounds even better than previous. Probably listened to it 2-3 times on the way to work and another 3-4 times coming home. Then I got the iTunes version and I'm def loving the tune. Can't wait to hear the rest. You have an international itunes account? |

It sounds like a James Bond theme song indeed and, to my ears, the chorus reminds a lot of chris cornell's You Know My Name, which was the theme song for Casino Royale. Does it really sound similar or am I crazy? I don't think it sounds like You Know My Name. I definitely agree that it has a James Bond Theme element to it. I'd read on here that he had written a song that he said would be perfect for James Bond. Wonder if he was talking about TBOTMI. Not the entire song, of course, just bits of it sound similar to the chorus of Mighty I. Anyway, maybe that's just me haha. |

You're a great actor haha I've not watched it yet but I rock at erm, playing dead! cant believe they bought me a full new suit for it! Shoes are mine though Great acting though! I would have probably been shaking while lying on the pavement, pretending to be dead or whatever. Just wondered if there's any more scenes or takes they had shot with you that didn't make the final cut? How was Noel like, did he seem to approve what the director was commanding, did he take any interest at all? I'm just really curious since the previous videos had all been somewhat less than watchable. This is actually the first High Flying Birds video I deliberately wanted to watch again and again. Mike Bruce is certainly sitting in front of his MacBook Pro right now recutting Spike Jonze' 'Sabotage' to fit Mighty I or something, photoshopping Noel's face on every Beastie Boy, laughing hysterically. I dearly hope he won't be commisioned to shoot a video for NG again, not saying he's a bad director in general, however, in terms of 3-4 minute music videos he's quite apparently clueless. |

I dearly hope he won't be commisioned to shoot a video for NG again, not saying he's a bad director in general, however, in terms of 3-4 minute music videos he's quite apparently clueless. cheers mate! they had scenes of where noel closes my eyes , i reopen them and he closes them again. noel then opens the case which is fillled with gold lights, then cut to the band scene , where you can see the light is golden. noel was great throughout, grumpy in a funny way, had a few cigs with him. he threatened (jokingly) to kick my head in on the floor and i told him to fuk off, out of earshot of john the director, noel said the vid is getting more ridiculous by the minute and how no one even watches them these days. they also were filming a making of video... |

Really loving it now, it's actually really catchy. I was a bit peeved about the non chorus at first but Noel has actually done something really clever how he slowly introduces it at the end of the first section and then letting it all out at the end of the second. Really pumped for the album!!!
