1st listen, feeling underwhelmed for a single, hoping this will grow...where's that big Marr guitar everyone kept talking about? So far Do The Damage is the only thing that's really got me feeling good about this era...

The main Johnny Marr parts are the instrumental bit in the middle and the outro, but I think there's bits throughout the whole song with him.

I mean it's not bad just very underwhelming, if it was just a regular track i'd be fine with it but as a single i dunno i'm just like meh & normally I love everything Noel puts out. Was expecting a big fuck off solo...

Great song, really like it and buzzing for the album - I can't be doing with the video but the Liam comment at the end made me smile.

It's decent, it isn't great. The chorus isn't strong enough in my opinion, the same people who are now saying chorus' don't matter are the same people who constantly dig at Beady Eye for not having chorus' in their songs. Make your mind up.
It's an enjoyable listen.

Noel was probably a bit inspired by this tune. At least the intro piano sound similar.

Hats off Noel. I had no idea what to expect, and I didn't wanna weigh in on the ridiculous conjecture about how it will sound based on a couple of words on a lyric sheet poking out of a record cover or a picture of him from the video shoot (what's the fuckin point? I guess some people have way too much time on their hands). I reckon it was a balls on the line move to put this out as a single. Everybody's complaining about a lack of chorus, yeah it's not the fist-in-the-air anthemic chorus, but he's written his fair share of those and I'm sure he'll write more of them.
And why I reckon this is a ballsy move to put this out as a single is just that. This is the first song of its kind for Noel. There are twists and turns here that you won't have heard in any of Noel's straight pop song structures before. Fuck Coldplay, it's almost like Night At The Opera-era Queen in its scene shifts (not that it sounds anything like Queen of course). And musically it's completely unpredictable, keys change. Where you think it's gonna repeat it shifts up, where you think it's gonna explode it drops back. Music with a constant sense of surprise. That's as exciting as it gets.
Having said that, I dunno who mixed it but would be interested to hear how Sardy would have done it. He always pulled the best drum sounds. I was impressed to hear NG produced himself but in the three songs we've heard so far I've found the drum sounds have fell a bit short of what Sardy's did for NGHFB/DOYS/DBTT.
I've always loved the anticipation of a favourite band/artists single as you guys all do, wondering what it might sound like weeks before we've even heard a fuckin note of it. And always relished when I was surprised by it. I haven't felt like this in years! Nice one.
And by the way, Noel's still got a fuckin thick head of hair don't he? Bastard!

It's actually quite a mature song from Noel, a million miles away from his raw 3chord early stuff. Not quite an "Achtung Baby" U2 statement but it's an evolution in his songwriting.

Love the tune BTW. Amazing that NG produced this on his own.
Love that bass line.

He is struggling to write decent melodies. From his last album What a life was good,If i had a gun was good,Alone on the rope was good, all the rest were decent....
This is completely forgettable and no amount of fancy atmospheric production can save it.
As for the idiot who said something about how McCartney has no great songs for decades....you obviously don't know shit about songwriting ,melodies a if you really believe that.

Make your mind up. It's an enjoyable listen. Erm..... don't think we are saying that. Like I said, the 'yes I'll find you' bit soars - by far the best bit of the song and its the chorus. In fact, it could suit well for a Bond theme tune. There are many reasons why others love this song - great instrumentation with a great beat to it, great vocals, really nice lyrics too - and its not derivative either. But it's also got a melancholy feel to the tune so there's more to it than simply 'just a chorus'. I can't understand why some folk are trying to turn this into a Beady Eye v Noel discussion.

I just don`t get into it.... Don`t really like it. For me this is weird, but its the first Noel Gallagher song, that misses something for me^^ Maybe I will get into it later and I`m sure I will like "Chasing Yesterday", cause "In the heat of the moment" and "Do the damage" were really cool, but this one .... nah

Utterly forgettable. No melody, no guitars, no chorus, no hook, seems uninspired. Ah, the old good Noel. This tune is so boring, it doesn't go anywhere to me.

Didn't think Alone on the Rope was notable for its melody. I love that song, but the atmosphere, lyrics and general weariness of the song is what makes it great, not the melody. Likewise with this song - atmosphere, lyrics and the general melancholy mood of it is what is really striking.

What's all this fuss about the song not having a chorus? I don't know if it's just me or what... but I do hear a chorus! Am I fucking mad??
I’ll find you, yes I’ll find you If I gotta be the man who walks the earth I’ll find you, yes I’ll find you If I gotta be the man who walks the earth alone

Some post on hear are almost laughable. "Expectations now zero". Your loss mate. Okay quick overall review: Album Cover:
Like 'ITHOTM' it's great. Beats the hell out of the Instagram-esque photos used for the last set. Simply average photos caked in post-processing filters. Very retro 80s-very early 90s. Reflects Noel's early years well. Strong, bold and memorable. Once seen in context here maybe you'll agree. Maybe. Song:Undeniably a great track. Possibly the most interestingly structured song Noel has put together. Anyone asking where the chorus is really need to broaden their horizons. If every Noel Gallagher song, had a clearly defined huge chorus, that to me would be disappointing. Noel clearly knows better than that. The song requires what the song requires. Not entirely sure I like the word 'Disco' being thrown around so carelessly. At the end of the day it's a big, atmospheric, epic-sounding pop song. It sounds like a class way to end the album, and better than 'Stop The Clocks' (a song I like). Marr's sprinkled contributions are nice, but don't blow my mind in anyway. Just nice. The underlying heavy guitar which comes in about 1:00 into the video, I like a lot. Production blows the last album out of the water. I hated it the same way I hate the production on 'Heathen Chemistry'. Overall 8.5/10 - 'Flick Of The Finger' is the only Beady Eye track that can hold a candle to it. I rate it roughly about the same as 'ITHOTM' and 'Do The Damage'. Could push a 9 eventually. We shall see. Video:The chat with Noel and the director at the start and end of the videos are the best video moments in the NGHFB catalogue bar none. Very David Brent like. Big, big thumbs up from me. "Chris Martin did 10 takes" is a great punchline. Well done. The rest of it is a typical NGHFB video 'AKA...Pretty Poor!' Suitably impressed... My expectations for the album are non-wavering. My only hope is plenty of variety and real guitar work appears and with the descriptions of 'The Right Stuff', 'Lock All The Doors' (the track I'm most interested in hearing) and the barrage of saxophones said show, I'm sure it will live up to the hype. Well done Noel.
