I'm talking about the Facebook chat. He was clearly not convinced at all about this record, or at least the singles, not in the words he was saying, in the attitude, the looks, the eyes, the gestures. It wasn't the confident Noel. Let's wait a few years, we'll see. Yea, but it's Noel doing a Facebook chat and being the usual grumpy Noel. He wasn't that enthusiastic at the beginning of last album cycle either. I get what you're saying, but you're summarizing his feelings about his own music based off the first interview he did off his vacation. It's a weak argument in my opinion. If he goes the next month still being dreary about it then fine, but right now, to go off solely from that Facebook chat seems thin. Point taken. but we'll see. Even in radio shows and all he doesn't seem as enthusiastic as before. Maybe he's feeling old or something. Noel is in 80s macca phase right now, doing absolutely what he can to stay relevant. The two singles sound like any other song of any other act at the moment. That's fine is people like it, I dont. I hope the rest of the record will be vastly different.

I already like it more than ITHOTM! Love the fact that it's more obscure for Noel-standards. I'm already looking forward to listening to it again and again and again and I'm sure, everytime I will find something new that I didn't notice and like. And I actually think, this is the first "good/clever" music video by Noel. I love the ending "Chris Martin did 10 takes! Does the guy in the video at the end "accidentally" call Noel Liam or did I hear that wrong?

I think noel doesn't seem as confident because he know he's doing something his "fans" wouldn't really expect from him, which is leaving his comfort zone in a way. Like he himself said, if i didn't think it was great, i wouldn't put it out there. He's just nervous because he doens't know how "his audience" will react Maybe. I think he's trying to stay relevant but attracting more casual listeners. Even by alienating his fan base. I was more than ready for Noel to try something new, but i dont really dig (SO FAR) his something new. There's many other direction he could have gone, he's gone Coldplay-ish. But that's ok, there's loads of other music out there.

My thoughts: this is WAL with stamina. More epic and the general sound is far more atractive (the bass really stands out).He really has a thing on this disco like music, actually it is not difficult to dance to this tune. The comparison to WAL is almost impposible to avoid: same notes, a very similar instrumentation (more echoes and delays though) and same musical structure. I must say that Mr. Marr contribution is almost a dissapointment. It doesn´t add.
When listening together with In the heat... you can tell the new album is more pop oriented-radio friendly. Definitely Noel is realising all the dancing beats he had kept for himself while in Oasis. Or simply he understood the current zeitgest: rock tunes dont sell as before. This is a departure from the rock pop anthems expected from him -the way taken by BE-.

Well, it's certainly different. I guess all the people who wanted him to stop writing Oasis stuff are happy now The Johnny Marr bit is great, very Smiths-like, but comes in way too late and way too little...should have been there from the first chorus on. Still, the song is great, not sure about the production but I guess that will grow on me over a few listens. The "chorus" (I’ll find you, yes I’ll find you) sounds like Skyfall by Adele and Messed up Kids by Jake Bugg I hear Skyfall in there too.

Followed you down to the end of the world/ To wait outside your window, In the heat of the rain I call your name/ But you just pass me by If you put me up like a fly on the wall/ you’ll need a blade where the hair lumps fall(??)Give me a sign if you hear me call/ you just pass me by The colours around me are faded away/ I’ll be awaiting come what may I’ll find you, yes I’ll find you, Thought that I’d be the man that walks the earth alone Followed the stars and I sang to the sun/ and held it in my fingers Alone on the beach on my own out of reach/ you just pass me by Give you the world if you take my hand/ but you left me alone in the sinking sand Strike up the band for one last stand/ and you just pass me by Show me the rules of the games you play/ and I’ll be awaiting come what may I’ll find you, yes I’ll find you, If I gotta be the man who walks the earth I’ll find you, yes I’ll find you, Thought I would be the man that walks the earth alone Followed you now to the end of the world/ to wait outside your window In the heat of the rain I’ll call your name/ but you just pass me by Wherever you run I’ll be on your tail/ whenever you’re hiding behind your veil I’ll find you, yes I’ll find you, If I gotta be the man who walks the earth I’ll find you, yes I’ll find you, If I gotta be the man who walks the earth alone. Little help? Not convinced about the bold section, and not sure about 'in the heat of the rain'. Possibly "You'll lead the blame when the heavens fall".

i don't think Noel does anything just to be more radio friendly. It's just what he thinks a song needs.

Followed the stars and I sang to the sun/ and held it in my fingers This is probably his best lyric ever imo But isn't it "Followed the stars and I sailed to the sun/ and held it in my fingers"? It's an ok song, gonna have to give it a few more listens. My only problem is I feel like the song could have a much more powerful chorus. Not trying to get back to the whole lack of chorus in BE debate, but to me it just sounds like he cut it out after "Thought that I’d be the man that walks the earth alone"... Allt that "I'll find you build up" and then nothing. Just feels like someone decided to skip forward 20 seconds. Maybe I'll get used to it.

The song is really nice, and in best Noel way is very melancholic and atmospheric...you can connect it with some part of your life, and the song creates some kind of colourful mood, more than classic chorus driven stadium shouter...you know what i mean? It is catchy, but in different way than he used to work before. And I dont think it is because he couldnt do a chorus driven song anymore, but he tries to change and do something different...it is a risk that he does consciously.
The problem are expectations from the fan base, that started to pay attention to Noel with very different type of music back than. This is not guitar rock anymore. But it is surprising and unixpected. He is not trying reproduce his 90´s fame anymore, he is trying to reach new limits.
Id didnt like DGSS much, but I liked BE a lot, because it was kind of differet. But it was still "just" different type of guitar rock that Oasis used to do. Noel is experimenting with something completely different, and because of that, I consider him to be lot more brave and really look forward to everything that is coming from him...

the first 2 tracks weve heard i think are better than most tracks off the first record. Its seems hes going down a groove disco route ,the album will contain classic noel songs but this is brilliant . turn it and listen

Whoever said you can't hear Johnny Marr in this clearly hasn't listened to his two solo albums. That little guitar part at 1:41 into the video is pure Johnny Marr stuff, for example. Classy.
Maybe we were expecting a big guitar solo? Yeah, but still... Marr is great at filling the track with his little touches here and there, and his sound is immediately recognizable.

Hope Noel gives this a run when/if he does acoustic sessions. I think the "I'll find you" bit will sound great stripped down, especially if he plays around with the vocal melody.
