I noticed them too. It seems like he's putting the bass guitar out in front more, which is definite modern touch to the songs, having a good amount of reverb on his vocals (similar to NGHFB), and opening up little areas for all the instruments to have a part in the "brickwall". This may be the audiophile coming out in me, but I wish he'd do an album where it's more dynamic, instead of the usual "brickwall" production that's been done for the past 21 years. Baby steps for Noel. Oh yea! It's a definite step in the right direction, however, and now that we got TBOTMI, I'm excited to hear The Right Stuff to hear just how "far out" from here Noel has gone with the sound because this is already getting there.

OK, 7 listens and I'm fucking in!!!!! This is a bold move. It's not like the timid stroll around the block that What A life was, Noel has hit the town hard…. He's embraced his Hacienda Club roots along with a weird Big 80s vibe. That massive vocal bit sounds like a chorus from the Flashdance soundtrack or something, but only after it's been thrashed silly with a tire iron. Exactly. Do people expect another TIOBI or Supersonic? Forget about it, this is Noel Gallagher expanding his musical abilities. I love it.

Sounds very different and very odd structure, almost sounds like its skipping to other tracks. Starting to like it though, probably one of those songs that take a few listens, which are the best. Like the Reflektor album didn't like it very much at all from the first listen, was quite out there for me but love it now.

Fucking ace tune! I don't think Noel's written a melody that weird since….well ever. Add in the wicked stuttering bass line and we've got ourselves a potential classic.

Have I missed the post where the whole song was out up?
Or are all these reviews based on the 60 seconds?

Yea I got an Arcade Fire vibe too. I am wondering if that's just the first verse. It maybe sounds like its about to break into the chorus just before the tiny bass instrumental bit and before the start of the second verse but it doesn't seem to quite get there.
I'm loving it though!!! Its great that Noel is doing new kinds of music and not just rehashing the Noel sung flag-wavers types from the Oasis days.

"Do you know what the enemy of music is? Interesting. Elvis wasn't interesting. The Sex Pistols weren't interesting. The Beatles weren't interesting. They had something that was fucking real and dealt with emotion. Do you know who's interesting? Bjork. Interesting is fucking ridiculous. It annoys me." - Noel Gallagher

I thought they sounded way too crowded and nothing like Arcade fires old stuff.

F**kin beautiful! Very different for Noel, which I'm completely open to, and definitely feels grand! Remember there's another three and a half minutes to go after this! It feels like it's gonna build and build and build!

From the preview my guess is that's just about to build to the chorus and then stopping and going into the second verse before a big build to a chorus.
Could be wrong though. Hope I'm right because thats a strange single choice if not.

FANTASTIC!!!!!
This sounds pretty much as good as Alone on the Rope, which is the gold standard of post 2000 NG songs.
Noel has made a tricky challenging song that doesn't go for the obvious buttons (cough, In The Heat of The Moment. It sounds like a massive orgasm of pent up creativity.

Love how you're all judging a song which goes one for more than 5 minutes by the first 60 seconds, this place is brilliant
