I want the album to be different, with an emphasis on the music and not the lyrics; the lyrics should compliment the music and be secondary; and I want the music to enter through my eyelids like how the lizards of the Galapagos Islands breathe in air. God bless. As if there are so many Oasis songs in which the lyrics are of greater importance

I want the album to be different, with an emphasis on the music and not the lyrics; the lyrics should compliment the music and be secondary; and I want the music to enter through my eyelids like how the lizards of the Galapagos Islands breathe in air. God bless. As if there are so many Oasis songs in which the lyrics are of greater importance I don't know who went to this place, William Howard Taft, William Jennings Bryan, William Tell, whoever. Their spirit is dead, if they ever had one. It's gone. You're building a rat ship here. A vessel for seagoing snitches, and if you think you're preparing these minnows for manhood, you better think again, because I say you are killing the very spirit this institution proclaims it instills. What a sham. What kind of a show you guys are putting on here today? I mean, the only class in this act is sitting next to me, and I'm here to tell ya this boy's soul is intact. It's non-negotiable. You know how I know? Someone here, and I'm not gonna say who, offered to buy it. Only eva here wasn't selling. Out of order. I'll show YOU "out of order"! You don't know what "out of order". I'd show you, but I'm too old, I'm too tired, I'm too fucking blind. If I were the man I was five years ago, I'd take a...FLAMETHROWER to this place! Out of order? Who the hell do ya think you're talking to? I've been around, ya know? There was a time I could see. And I have seen. Boys like these, younger than these. Their arms torn out, their legs ripped off. But there is nothing like the sight of an amputated spirit. There's no prostetic for that. You think you're merely sending this splendid foot solder back home to Oregon with tail between his legs, but I say you are executing his SOUL! And why? Because he's not a Baird man. Baird men. You hurt this boy, you're gonna be Baird bums, the lot of ya. And Beady’s Here Now, Jimmy, Trent, wherever you are, fuck you too! I'm not finished! As I came in here, I heard those words, "Cradle of Leadership". Well, when the bough breaks, the cradle will fall. And it has fallen here. It has fallen. Makers of men, Creators of leaders. Be careful what kind of leaders you're producing here. I don't know if eva's silence here today is right or wrong. I'm not a judge or jury, but I can tell you this: He won't sell anybody out to buy his future! And that, my friends, is called integrity. That's called courage. Now that's the stuff leaders should be made of. Now I have come to the crossroads in my life. I always knew what the right path was. Without exception, I knew. But I never took it. You know why? It was too damn hard. Now here's eva. He's come to the crossroads. He has chosen a path. It's the right path. It's a path made of principle that leads to character. Let him continue on his journey. You hold this boy's future in your hands, committee. It's a valuable future. Believe me. Don't destroy it. Protect it. Embrace it. It's gonna make you proud one day, I promise you. God bless.

Do you type that out yourself of just copy paste? Clear them little bottles off. And when I get done with this post, call up Hyman and tell him I want it wall to wall with John Daniels. He may be Jack to you, but when you've known him as long as I have... that's a joke. Goede nacht.

God bless. As if there are so many Oasis songs in which the lyrics are of greater importance I really don't understand people who say Oasis' lyrics mean nothing. Okay, sure, he's no Morrissey, or Frank Turner....He's not poetic, but he's real. Almost every song has some clever lyrics embedded that one can relate to, and if not then just the shear attitude of the song itself. I actually rate Noel highly with lyrics because he/they are real. And he is very good at twisting phrases around in a clever fashion. How many times did I write the word "clever"? Many, because it's true. Hell, even Digsy's Dinner: These could be the best days of out lives, but I don't think we'd be living very wise...OH NO NO Mean Mrs. Mustard, can I pick you up at half past three? I made some good lasagne.....

Didn't say they don't mean anything, did I? I just said the music is in a lot of cases more important than the lyrics. I do agree that in every song there is at least one line that could mean something to someone. Oh and I love lasagna.

I'm voting for, it will be the same. the cover-art is offputting to me as extremely lazy. ITHOTM (unwieldy acronym that, have to think before typing) it's ok when I listen but I never think, 'Oh, I want to listen to that!'. and Do the Damage I heard once or twice at first and didn't like, but maybe I should try again.
first impressions are though that Noel is already bored with it, therefore I will soon be bored with it

I listened to ITHOTM two times and Do the damage never till now. I'll wait till the whole thing is out and the listen to it. Otherwise the risk is to high that I'm bored of it before I listened. NGHFB and BE are sadly not Oasis anymore. For me there was till now not one song where I think "Oh, I have to listen to that!" I know. That's sad, but true. The first weeks and during the tour for the record I listen to it a lot (DGSS, BE, NGHFB) but after that all???

You can't judge something what you don't know yet. We'll get our answer as soon as the album is out.
You can't say "we have a daughter and we know our second child will be a daughter, so it's same as our first child".
You'll never know what tomorrow will bring us and sometims it's good not to know.

I still listen to HFB a lot, but not in it's entirety. Not all 10 or 11, what is it, tracks in a row. Mostly TDOYAM, Broken Arrow and EOTR. Oh and WAL! sometimes, because it gets me energetic when I'm working out.

THIS. I'm personally very excited for this album. I'm also trying to have no expectations whatsoever.

He said he was bored of it already because it took so long. I'm sure that was meant to be tongue in cheek. In all interviews about the album I've heard he sounded very proud, confident and enthusiastic, except about the album title, which I can understand.

When asked if he listens to his own music, he actually said he listens to the album loads in preparation UNTIL he goes on tour then he stops listening to it.

I hope the production of Chasing Yesterday is such that the songs retain their appeal for longer. When NGHFB was released, my initial reaction to the songs was much better than when I listen now. While I still hold that album in high regard, the songs seem so transparent and the production makes each song sound really similar. If that album was a colour, it would be brown.
I have a good feeling that Chasing Yesterday will have a lot of variation, it damn well needs it. What Noel said about taking a couple of songs and thinking its Oasis, take another couple and you'd think he's gone crazy, that all sounds promising and it's something that just wasn't true of the first album.
I do think In The Heat Of The Moment and Do The Damage are too similar melodically, and what's really needed now is to hear the next single which, up to now, has been described as having disco influences. If it manages to strongly differentiate itself from what we've heard so far, I'll be satisfied.

I'm pretty sure ITHOTM is one of the songs Noel thinks is a bit disco.

I'm pretty sure ITHOTM is one of the songs Noel thinks is a bit disco. Which scares me because Ballad Of The Mighty I got described by a magazine (Q?) as being a bit disco, so if brown was the production theme for the first album, "funky hip with the youth beats" might reoccur throughout this one.

I have a feeling for that reason it may be like IIHAG where he releases it on a US radio station to promote the tour. Hopefully it won't fall on deaf ears in America (but it will). If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

NGHFB and BE are sadly not Oasis anymore. For me there was till now not one song where I think "Oh, I have to listen to that!" I know. That's sad, but true. Exactly ! When they split i was really bummed , then I bought NOELS solo and liams thing , and was like ...really It's like looking at your best friend at a high school reunion who your told ypur wife all these great crazy stories about , then you see him or her 20 years later and are wtf He looks familiar but nahhhhh can't be ... I literally had to force myself to listen to Bdi second hoping i would see my old friend again , but no ..... I'll do the same for noel and am sure it will be not find WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR IN IT . ( hope im wrong ) I KNOW time does not stand still , I know people evolve , change there taste ,get mellow , but to me and to many OASIS FANS there style , there flair , were part of there sound or persona .... I know the die hard noel lovers will enjoy , and I am truly happy for that same for the liam supporters , but like you said It's no longer I CANT WAIT TO HEAR IT ....it's i feel obligated because I love both .. If ithom is any indication this will be my 4 th dissapointment post oasis ,,,but I will listen , I have to ..... And yes I will be be impartial not expecting failure ( what I consider failure ) But it's no longer I CANT WAIT cause I was really DISSAPOINTED the last 3 times ( both brothers )

Let me clarify what I mean by failure or like seeing your best friend not looking the same .......I love VAN HALEN ( not Van hagar ) they had a tune called " summer nights " I know Sammy wrote it so it's not fair to think how DAVE fit in ...... But that song would have been Van halens biggest tune ever imo. It had this great riff by eddie , a great hook. And Sammy talked a lot in the tune which ruined it for me , DAVE did that better than anyone i.e.panama, -hot for teacher,- everybody wants some )
That song WOULDA lit up the summer of 86 if DAVE was on it ( if he had wrote ). Thsts how I feel when I hear noel for a full lp , liam needs to sing this or that , and same in bdi where you know noels expertise WOULDA made a song a classic with a lyric or one of his hooks
