Zane Lowe Hottest Record In The World, Monday 12th, Radio 1 19:30??? Video online straight after? Digital release 13th??? I wasn't far wrong! Getting track and video Monday, bet it is still Zane Lowe's hottest record, just not first play. XFM has first play.

Is it only available to buy for those who pre-order off itunes? If so, that's another terrible marketing ploy. Considering many of us have pre-ordered it in physical format, nobody will buy the single if its only available via digital pre-order. Which means by time it is available for everyone, it will have been on the radio for a while and the tune will have been available for illegal downloading etc. That better not be true. He should make the track 100% downloadable on Tuesday. All formats. I already bought the album in physical format. Guess I'll just have to rip it from the YouTube video as per usual........................

Just a little disappointed, but at least we know when to expect it now.

You'd be surprised how well some of those YouTube rippers crank out high quality MP3s.

Noel's gotta do what Kayne did last week. His new single comes out and within minutes you can buy it on iTunes in every country. Now it's a #1.

yeah if it's a 720 or 1080 p video the sound is even better than your cd. or the same, at least.

I think it will be a 24 hour pre-order with the release on the next day.

I think this release strategy is just a tad stupid considering this is apparently a fantastic song and the best on the album. Oh and the artwork is atrocious. I can't believe this dude gets paid for that, while anyone can do a better job with even their phone ffs. I'M SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS

yeah if it's a 720 or 1080 p video the sound is even better than your cd. or the same, at least. That's why the single market is dead. Once a song is out on video it's bootlegged till kingdom come. Everything is basically free if you want to copy and paste a link from YouTube to a ripper.

No I think they're fantastic. The design is almost stark yet engaging, they're direct, but energetic and different. I find it laughable that people hate on these covers, as if it's a no brainer then make their own. They all turn out super amateurish IMO--And yet people on here are all up in arms like "Yeah that's way better!" Ridiculous, but to each their own. Also showed them around my work (lots of designers around) and really, really positive responses to them. Ranting now, but it's bugged me for a long time. If you want to talk shit about Oasis and their design aesthetic look at the logo from '00-'04. That's something to gripe about. But overall with this forum I don't post much because most of the opinions/speculation on here seems so off base it just makes me mad. Ok, I'm done now. Have a good Weekend. I do respect your opinion, but I can't disagree more. To me the covers for CY so far look dull, uninspired, amateurish. Just look at the album cover... it's cringeworthy! Noel in front of a dirty wall, and some bizarre black lines on the side. Is that it? The single covers are a bit better, to be honest. At least they have some colors in it! I'm no designer (I like to think that I'm a good photographer though!) but I do adore album covers, the look is important to me. The work of Brian Cannon with Oasis was very good, for example. Let's talk Storm Thorgerson and his Pink Floyd covers... now those are masterpieces! But these... they may please some designer's mind but not mine. They're not even minimalist... they are just bad looking. Here are just two of my favourite Oasis covers for a quick visual comparison... as you say, "to each their own" but there's really no match IMHO. I've gotta politely disagree. The SOTSOG cover is about as cliched as an album cover gets. Empire State Bulding, check, long exposure, check. They're a dime a dozen. The newer Noel stuff has actually chosen a design direction. It's shot the way it is on purpose. It knows what it wants to be. It's a balance of low light photography contrasted with a sharp, abrupt design aesthetic. They balance each other out. It feels real, not too polished. Again, at the end of the day everyone has an opinion as they should and that cool, but with these latest covers he's actually going in a direction, taking a risk. Not everyone will like it, but I sure do.

I don't have a problem with the single artwork at all. I care more about an album cover, as that's the main face of a project, but for the singles they can do what they like - especially when the only people who will actually come face to face with it are the minority who buy it in vinyl rather than download it.
I can't think of any singles ever that I rate lower because of their artwork.

I think they don't give a shit about how much Ballad of the Mighty I will sell and where it will chart. They just want people to buy Chasing Yesterday Deluxe Edition. Now, In the Heat of the Moment sold 15k copies after the 1st week, so 20k copies now, more or less. Probably 25k. In 2014 99% of singles in UK were bought digitally, so that means there are at least 17/18k people who have already pre-ordered CY. Probably 35/40k after Ballad of the Mighty. It's pretty solid, isn't it?
That's their strategy, I guess.

Well, ITHOTM sold 15k after the 1st week, so 25k copies sold now, more or less. 99% of singles were bought digitally in 2014, so at least 24k of those copies were sold digitally. On iTunes you must pre-order CY to buy In the Heat of the Moment, so, yeah, they probably have 17/18k pre-orders. It's just an estimate
