Noel has admitted to being a fan of Nirvana and of Kurt as a guitarist. Liam doesn't really like them, although I believe that he said that he thought they had a couple of good songs.

Aly is probably right, but I can't imagine Noel or Liam listening to Nirvana.

There is that quote from Noel on BHM about 'needing to make the most important record since Nevermind' or something like that, also Liam dedicated LF to Kurt when he commited suicide.
I think it's obvious Noel would have a respect for the band, Kurt and Noel had very similar philosophies on music and songwriting.

There is that quote from Noel on BHM about 'needing to make the most important record since Nevermind' or something like that. Yeah it's on the DM dvd, he says something like "It had to be the best rock album since nevermind by nirvana, or they'd have been no point in doing it" not sure if that's the exact quote.

If you saw that thing on tv where they were deciding hte supposed best song or band of the 90s, it was between nirvana, radiohead, oasis, robbie williams, think the prodigy maybe and some other people (seem to remember Robbie Williams winning so...) he was talking about Nirvana and said he was a fan of Kurt and talked about Teen Spirit positively and i think he said Kurt was a genius Also dedicated HeyHey MyMy to him at some point in a gig and said he wouldve been more powerful than Lennon if he hadnt died

No, that's from Behind The Music. He added that if it wasn't they might never have made a second record. Course that doesn't necessarily makes him a big fan, just that he thinks they were important.

"I hate pop stars who go on whinin' about the price of fame and this that and the other. Let me just tell you that being famous is great. I love it, man. I think it's the best when you get stopped walking down the street for an autograph, that's the best feeling in the world. Then you get people like Eddie Vedder, you know what I mean? It's like, what's the point? Why is he in a band if he's so pissed off, you know what I mean? Why don't you just work in a car wash you know what I mean? Or like McDonald's or something."
I think that's the famous quote from Noel; I don't remember him saying anything negative directly about Nirvana. I think it was Liam who, IIRC from one of the biographies, made a remark during their first US tour something to the effect that Kurt was a whimp who couldn't handle the pressure.

Nirvana used to be my favourite band before Oasis. For some reason I think they're a bit similar. Kurt was a Beatles fan too and had great music taste in general, his songs have great melodies and are really loud and powerful. Even though Cobain's career was short he's up there with the greatest songwriters in rock history. Oh and Liam's son Lennon recently said Nirvana is the most important band in his life. It's quite funny that Frances Bean Cobain says Oasis is her favourite band

I think that's in Jill Furmanovsky's book, where it's said that Liam really liked Nirvana Unplugged.

Didn't Liam say that Jesus Doesn't Want Me For A Sunbean at MTV Unplugged was one of his favourite songs? Found it! Daniela Soave: "He [Liam] asked if I had Nirvana Unplugged, which threw me a little as I didn't think it was the kind of thing he'd request. He wanted to hear 'Jesus don't want me for a sunbeam', which he used to play every day on the tour bus. When I told him it was my friend Eugene Kelly who wrote the song, Liam's eyes welled up. He went up to Eugene - who hadn't a clue about the conversation we'd just had - and shook his hand, before rushing out of the room overcome with emotion. I love the fact that Liam's so affected by the power of music - it's why he's the best singer". page 91, "Was there then", Jill Furmanovsky

The band weren't particular fans of Nirvana but did dedicate 'Live Forever' to him in Middlesbrough upon hearing of his death (Getting High: The adventures of Oasis p232 which also references them later appreciating his work via the 'Unplugged' LP)

There's a quote on the Live Forever page on Wikipedia regarding Noel actually writing Live Forever as a response to I Hate Myself and I Want to Die. "At the time . . . it was written in the middle of grunge and all that, and I remember Nirvana had a tune called 'I Hate Myself and Want to Die', and I was like . . . 'Well, I'm not fucking having that.' As much as I fucking like him [Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain] and all that shit, I'm not having that. I can't have people like that coming over here, on smack, fucking saying that they hate themselves and they wanna die. That's fucking rubbish. Kids don't need to be hearing that nonsense...Seems to me that here was a guy who had everything, and was miserable about it. And we had fuck-all, and I still thought that getting up in the morning was the greatest fuckin' thing ever, 'cause you didn't know where you'd end up at night. And we didn't have a pot to piss in, but it was fucking great, man"

Noel in recent years has praised Nirvana and Kurt. I remember around the 20th anniversary of Nevermind he have gave some interviews. I found this one with Matt Pinfield from 2011. But there are more out there somewhere in recent years.
