I seriously doubt that. I don't know, you don't name a song Ballad Of The Mighty I without it being amazing. If the song features vocals from Pharrell and is co-writtern with Guetta, might have a chance to be number one.

By the way 99% of the bands out there can only dream to have a single out at #26 without promoting it at all, and some of them still get to number 1 when it comes to albums 99% of bands would also like to have an album chart #2, but did that work out for Beady Eye? Charting is insignificant, longevity is. However, I'd been saying for sometime that top 20 was a long shot, especially with the type of release promo went for. I had always thought Top 30 for sure, possibly top 25. He missed top 25 by one spot. #26 is good considering the promotion, but bad considering the artist he is in the U.K. So, this charting is a wash. The best thing it did was get Noel on the radio for five weeks and cause some pre-orders to pile up. Which is really the point of a single: to promote the album.

I know, what I was trying to say is that even without having the most successful first single an album can easily get to number 1, especially when we're talking about a rock n roll act with a pretty solod fanbase
Amyway I'm convinced thay Ballad Of The Mighty I can be this album's What A Life in terms of charts performance

This single was meant to get his name out there again, and to make people pre order the album. If this was seriously considered to be a big single it would have been promoted better. If you think about it like this, 26 is actually fantastic.

I think it could chart higher, WAL charting at #20, but in terms of longevity on the charts, it's going to be difficult. Unless Noel is planning on putting another one of his songs in a commercial again. That type of performance will be difficult to match in terms of performance.

The Roller wasn't the first single tho Anyway this one wasn't promoted at all, Ballad Of The Mighty I will probably chart higher, especially considering it will come out one month and a half before the album, which is when usually first singles come out nowadays and it's when he'll probably start promoting the album doing tv appareances and radio performances I thought the roller was considered the first "official single"? It seems like noel did quite a bit of promoting for ithotm... I remember just as much for the death of you and me, but he also had a lot more of the post oasis hype.

Guys, the thing is that ITHOTM is the #1 song on the Singles Chart from a rock N roll artist.
1. DO THEY KNOW IT'S CHRISTMAS BAND AID 30
2. REAL LOVE CLEAN BANDIT FT JESS GLYNNE
3. WRAPPED UP OLLY MURS FT TRAVIE MCCOY
4. THINKING OUT LOUD ED SHEERAN
5. DANGEROUS DAVID GUETTA FT SAM MARTIN
This is the top 5, not even the One Direction made it this week.

Noel did A LOT more promotion for the TDOYAM. From magazine covers to live performances. Noel chose not to do those things for this single. The DGSS release history is weird. The Roller was the third released song. BTL is considered a taster and FLW was a poor release. Personally, I count FLW as the first single and The Roller as the second. Though a case could be made of The Roller being the " first official" single.

Quite a few of The Smiths songs hovered around the #20 mark but their legacy lives on - as long as they are quality, and that many people listen to it (Noel has many fans), they should endure.

I think nobody mention this, but ITHOTM got number 17 on the Official UK Singles Sales Chart and Do the Damage on number 67. This is the chart that counts only sales, like was done before.
