I've watched this about a dozen times. I like ITHOTM, but DTD seems to grab me more. I hear BHN (it's probably the chord structure and the piano) as others have said. Also cheers to this guy. Lots of energy. I love this tune but I'm hating that Noel keeps opting out of adding guitar riffs to songs recently. He clearly wrote the sax bit on a guitar (unless he's learned sax recently) and it clearly sounds great on a guitar too. Just a small gripe.

^^^ One shouldn't play Mr. Noel Gallagher's songs using such a gay guitar.

Some thoughts: Decent b-side, nothing spectacular, but not bad I hope he doesn't do it live If it was written by his brother, people would be wanking left, right and center I think the opposite. I think a lot of people would be calling it average. That sort of thing does work both ways. Of course if Liam wrote it he would be singing it, then it comes down to preference.

I do wish we had proper CD singles like in the old days. But I guess there's less point if its released as an extra track on the bonus disc, as opposed to the Beady Eye DGSS bsides which were never released on CD. Vinyls are made in smaller quantity than CD's. Remember, with CD's and vinyl you not only pay for the distribution costs, but also if they're not sold and have to sit in a warehouse, then you're also paying a fee for the housing and another distribution fee for the shipping back to the distributor. That comes out of the artists' pocket. Releasing vinyls which are made in smaller quantities negates that loss because they're less of a chance of excess product. Also, you can charge more for vinyls because you can charge them as special releases. You can do a limited release of a single on CD, but you'd probably be charging the same price to make and distribute as you would for a wide release. Almost makes no sense to do a limited release of a CD single financially. But it does with vinyl. Making it a mp3 release also negates cost too. So, doing a vinyl and mp3 combination release actually might mean bigger profits for Noel than if he released mp3, CD, and vinyl. I think releases with vinyl and mp3 singles have become far more prevalent. Especially as almost no one buys a single on CD anymore. Noel isn't the only artist not releasing CD singles anymore. They financially just don't make sense anymore for any artist, even Noel. You make some very good points here Spaneli, I never thought of these things. I learned something new

Fun little b-side. Glad to have it on my iTunes forever. Like many have already stated, this would have made a perfect DOYS style track. Pity it wasn't aroumd in those days....or was it.... All in all I've liked both new tunes Noel has given us. Both sound fresh, modern and uptempo. I know it's nothing earth shattering but for Noel it somehow sorta sounds different if that makes any sense. I have high hopes for Chasing Yesterday.

From a quick analysis of this thread, it seems like more of the BDI fans like this song over ITHOTM. Is it because it's more of a "rocker", or is it because the song doesn't really go anywhere and that's something you're used to?

Been saying it for years. You can bootleg anything off youtube in seconds. Might as well give the fans the best possible version straight off the bat.

All joking aside, I actually do like the song. It's a fun little b-side. Plus Noel found a way to make a sax solo sound cool, so props to him for that.

Apologies for being out the loop, but I can't find the single on itunes, only sold individually as part of the album.
What's going on there?

Still #16 on UK iTunes so can't complain so far. Just have to wonder the legs it could have. He still has the presale with the vinyl single that's selling extremely well. If he can stay Top 30 for the next 3-4 days then he should have a decent charting. The mystery are the vinyl sales. It could have sold 1k by now or 5k. We'll know Wednesday.
