Not up for it vocally? Is The Turning that much harder to sing than Morning Glory or I'm Outta Time (not that those sounded great live or anything)? sustained notes in the chorus are/were a problem for liam in his latter days and when you take in mind that some of the phrazes in the verses have them as well would make this one hard to do on tour.

Couldn't agree more. I had a debate here once with britishlove ( she is no longer on so no need to tag ) she said you can rank songs and tunes U said no , because. Favorite tunes and lp s change as my mood does , with one exception. Physical GRAFITTI is always my fav LP. And kashmir my fav tune , but the rest change depending on mood m and like U i forget how great a lp was or tune TIL im in that mood great example for me .....is david Bowie. if I don't listen for awhile im like , This is unreal why isn't this on my cd every day , then my mood swings and im into punk or guitar driven 80 s ,, beauty of music man

When I first heard The Turning I was ready to get the beer out and toast to a full return to form. It completely blew me away, that power and volume had not been heard since Be Here Now and I loved it!
The first 4 tracks of DOYS is up there with their best work they've done and that run of songs is better than any except the mid part of DM from Columbia to Cigarettes and Alcohol.
It's not my favourite Noughties Oasis moment as I still prefer Gas Panic! and Roll It Over but it's up there with TIOBI and SCYHO

Cracking tune, the little solo really takes it up a notch. It has proper feel-good vibe to it almost in check with 90s Oasis. My 3 favourite noughties Oasis songs are all on SOTSOG though, Fuckin' In the Bushes, Go Let it Out and Gas Panic. There are some belters from HC onwards though, it's a shame they never produced an album that kept the quality up right the way through, as in patches they (or should that be Noel?) could still write some brilliant music.

Never really understood the love for The Turning or Bag It Up, just don't do it for me. No real hooks.

It would probably get on my Mk.II Oasis best of.
1. F*ckin In The Bushes (great riff, really gets me going, its my alarm in the morning, alongside Swamp Song) 2. Go Let It Out (one of my fave songs, great chorus lyrics, the middle 8 climax is epic) 3. Who Feels Love? (might be in the minority here, but i like the psychedelic eastern feel to this song. Making it a minute shorter would be ideal) 4. Gas Panic! (in my top 10 oasis songs of all time. Beautiful lyrics, gorgeous psychedelic guitar lines. Perfect) 5. Where Did It All Go Wrong? (great noel ballad, top lyrics, nice vocals) 6. Roll It Over (great anthemic closer) 7. Lets All Make Believe (love the lyrics, laid back but beautiful. How this was left off beats me) 8. The Hindu Times Demo (the single loses some of the raw energy i git from the demo.) 9. SCYHO (bit cheesy, and a bit predictable but an anthem nonetheless 10. Songbird (nice short Liam ballad) 11. Little By little (some of noels best lyrics, gorgeous verses, chorus is alright, but the song is nice overrall. 12. BOADC (who cares if its a Lennon ripoff, nice lyrics, almost psychedelic in the intro. I like it) 13. TUTS (good Andy bell tune, love the intro, and when the guitars kick in, its banging.) 14. Lyla. (a stadium rocker, with a great chorus) 15. TIOBI - brilliant. Lyrics, guitar, singing everything. 16. The turning (like the rocky stompy feel) 17. WFTR (great song. Like everything about it) 18. TSOTL (energetic powerhouse) 19. IOU (liams best song along with BOADC. Neat lyrics, nice guitar lines) 20. Falling down (psychedelic heaven. Gorgeous lyrics, gorgeous song)
Anyway yeah the turning is a tune

Where Did It All Go Wrong is indeed very under-rated.
Tune.

Do people consider SOTSOG as Oasis Mk II by the way? I was just wondering that because I can't remember anyone referring to it like that. I find it a bit weird with that album, because Gem and Andy hadn't joined yet, but Bonehead and Guigs had left already and something definitely changed. So I probably WOULD put it under Oasis mk. II

I would regard it as such.
Anything post Guigsy and Bonehead is the other Oasis to me.

DOYS has some real gems imo even aside from The turning - waiting for the rapture, the shock of the lightning, im outta time, falling down, soldier on..
I dont see why it gets so much shit on this forum

Definitely in the higher echelon of post-90s Oasis tunes. No doubt.
Other top contenders:
Gas Panic Go Let It Out Falling Down Turn Up The Sun
Good but not quite as brilliant:
The Big 4 HC singles TIOBI (don't personally like but overall opinion is strong) Lyla I'm Outta Time TSOTL

The Turning is brilliant. Best song on DOYS alongside Falling Down. I love the choir and the chorus. It should have been a single too.
Shake your rag doll, baby.

Therefore I believe they were adding at least some old vibe and influence. So I think that I would still kinda put the album under Oasis mk I.

It's solid. Would struggle to make my 2000's Oasis top-ten, but still good.
