Today I saw my friend who works with Sony, and I got my hands on Noels new single. Music is credited to Noel Gallagher Mixed by Craig Silvey Artwork by Lawrence Watson The bass is much better than the compressed youtube videos. It sounds great. Do The Damage is good. The next single will tentativly be released in January. It's no surprise that In the Heat of the Moment has really grown on me, diggin it. So is Do the Damage good as in, better or worse then ITHOTM?

Well if that means the 90s will come back too, I don't mind. Music wise.

Anyway, I had assumed he was officially commisioned by Noel to do all the artwork!? I wonder if Noel has recorded TWO albums and Brian has done the artwork for the other one ;-)

Brian was pretty clear in his statement:
Statement by Brian Cannon was released today -
“At the personal request of Noel Gallagher – I have been working on the packaging and extras for the soon to be released remastered formats of Definitely Maybe since last October. I am absolutely made up with the results – and clearly so too is he - he has asked me to oversee all design and production of his new solo records artwork and photography – due out next year. Definitely Maybe (whilst having more or less the same front and back covers) is reissued in four different formats – each with totally different inner imagery, culminating in a 56 paged 12 inch by 12 inch hard backed book available only with the limited edition box set of which I am particularly proud.. Morning Glory and Be Here Now are to get the remastered box set treatment (both for release this year and also repackaged by me) the overall banner for the project is ‘Chasing The Sun’.”

So he's "overseeing" the CY artwork but not actually producing it then?

If he'd been overseeing the CY artwork I'd expect him to be credited. eg "Art direction by Brian Cannon. Photograph by Lawrence Watson".
I'm taking this as clear evidence there is another album :-)
In Brian's statement he even said "albums" plural rather than "album's" possessive - bad grammar or Freudian slip!?
We know Noel already recorded 17 tracks for the AA album, including Mighty I and Freaky Teeth. In addition to that in 2011 Noel said he had actually already recorded a third 9 track album at that point called "The Future Of Martial Arts".
Add to that a further year of recording. That's an awful lot of time and material for just one 10 track album...

That would be awesome as hell. Of course, it's entirely possible they ended up not using Cannon's designs.

Until it's in the shops, I don't trust him sadly.
