yeah mate i know he has,,i posted this incase others hadnt heard it lol,,thats how i got into TSOL hearing noel talk about them Cool no probs, that vid you posted about the realies and oasis, never seen that before, seen some comparisons before but that documentary is staggering. Didn't know the extent to which they borrowed from them tbh that doc opened my eyes 1st time i saw it,,we all know noel borrowed from slade,,trex the beatles etc etc but to rip these guys off in such a big way is shocking im thinkin he droppped them like hot coal when oasis hit the big time which is a shame ,,even liams singing style in a lot like the realies singer,,LG a mix of ian brown lennon rotten and the real people

Wow that song really does sound suspiciously like Part Of The Queue, I honestly think the original writers should get some acknowledgement for it. Maybe just a small thanks in the album credits rather than co-writer status?
There's such a fine line between stealing and copying though, IMO Noel made their song better as he has done with a lot of the other stuff he's taken inspiration from over the years I.e. Don't Go Away which I think is far superior to Feel The Pain.

Didn't he take lyrics from a Real People song and use them in Don't Go Away?

There was a song Noel played last night that sounded like Lyla. Sure it was by The Kit Kats...but according to Twitter it was a song called That's the Way. But I have Listened to that and it didn't sound like it!

Good Artists Copy; Great Artists Steal.
- Steve Jobs, or Pablo Picasso, or maybe T. S. Eliot. Possibly W. H. Davenport Adams or Lionel Trilling. There can even be a case made for Igor Stravinsky, William Faulkner, or maybe it is simply Apocryphal.
Regardless of who coined the term, the sentiment stands true. We are all a collection of what has come before us, and what we have been previously exposed to as well. Personally, I don't really care where Noel (Oasis) got the idea for a lyric or tune. All that matters is that whatever they created was good, enjoyable, and possibly applicable to my own experiences.

It should also be noted that this kind of scrutiny is usually reserved for musicians above most other art forms or professions, with the level of accusations (justified or otherwise) rising in line with success. Also is the pressure to continue to make great records each time without slipping standards, or be deemed a failure, as opposed to say businessmen such as Stelios Haji-Ioannou who is remembered as a success for easyJet whilst conveniently easyCruise is forgotten, and the same with Alan Sugar and Amstrad vs, well nearly everything else he has been involved in

I wouldn't say ripped off, but I just noticed that the beginning of the guitar riff from The Hindu Times sounds a lot like the guitar riff at the end of the chorus to Ten Storey Love Song:

Lyla is Armenia City In The Sky by The Who. The verses are Street Fighting Man by the Rolling Stones. Obviously Noel could remember some recordings made during the Be Here Now era

The One I Love = Morning Glory Quote from Alan McGee in "Magpies Eyes" book that he was, as Noel's co-publisher, relieved that Michael Stipe wasn't the type to sue someone

GLIO drums sounds like Beck's Loser Not a big surprise as he had worked on Beck material previously, remixing Devil's Haircut for the CD1 release of the single, so he probably was quite familiar with Beck's work at that point:-

I made a short YouTube video about this with some background info available if you switch on subtitles.

davidjay Noel as you probably know had also played guitar on Paul Weller's version of 'I Walk on Gilded Splinters' from 1995's Stanley Road, sio he had heard that drumbeat from both Beck as a contemporary artist and PW as one of his heroes, so as the musical magpie he is.....

Just listening Zeppelins Immigrant song. The riff reminds me a bit about Fuckin in the bushes..? I think it's a pretty straight lift of Alice Cooper's Go To Hell with the immigrant Song lick overlapping the descending line from GTH.

Kind of on topic but with no evidence to back it up..
I remember a conversation a couple of years ago on Twitter between Alan White’s brother and I believe the bassist from Ocean Colour Scene. They seemed to suggest and be adamant that Noel had stolen the importance of being idle off somebody, even mentioning the guys name. It seemed to be someone they knew personally.
I couldn’t find the guys music when I searched but admittedly I didn’t put a great deal of effort into looking.
Would’ve been interesting to find out more about that.
Just seemed a bit interesting that they actually mentioned the guys name, not just a random remark about the song.
And obviously with Noel’s track record, it’s not far fetched.
