I'm trying to keep expectations for this album low but I'm finding doing that increasingly difficult. Me too. I'm trying not to expect anything but the back of my head yells to me that it will be amazing.

I've never been more excited for an individual song as this, in a long, long time. It sounds phenomenal, yet Noel has managed to understate it very well. It sounds like it could be an amazing song but it has not been given the "Stop the clocks" treatment, i.e. 'this is my best ever song rah rah rah'. However, I think given that he has asked Marr to play on it (his favourite ever guitarist) and that it is his name on Instagram, I feel that there is some serious attachment to this song.
He might have figured out, by now, that the way he bigs up some of his songs, is counter-productive, because when he states that it is his best ever song, you hear DLBIA, Wonderwall, Slide Away, Champagne Supernova and the like. When it is not as good as these songs, it goes down as a disappointment. Stop the clocks is a good song, but nowhere near as good as he made out.
My own fucked up logic is telling me that this will be HIS BEST SONG EVER

It might make the rest feel like a 'yawn' if Mighty I is as good as he says it is. If he sets the bar high from the start, people will be disappointed when the rest fails to meet the height again.

Noel knows he potentially has another big single in his back pocket (The Dying of The Light). Personally Im not a huge fan of it by many many people are. Plus Noel could have other great songs we don't even know about on that album. I'm pumped.

I figure, if I keep my expectation lower than what he's proposed, I'll be amazed by the album. For HFB 1, I had my hopes too high and was disappointed with the general end product.

Anyone else concerned that Noel says this one is "bit disco"? I mean, In the Heat of the Moment is already bit dance/disco/whatever…I was hoping this tune would be the DLBIA or the Champagne Supernova of the album. Now it seems like it's gonna be ANOTHER What A Life, Part 2.

Interesting that he's decided to release two disco tracks as the first singles. I guess that makes sense though, it's what's popular right now. I'm still hoping the album turns out as eclectic.

Pretty cool that the opening track is inspired by a song Noel found through Morrissey and the closing track features Marr. The album is surrounded by Smiths.

its just a song.... so many people end up hyping it up so much before its release that you are bound for some sort of disappointment.
Im sure it will be a good tune and only in time can we decide if it is great.

It's that goddamn pompous title and the fact that it's the closing track. It just screams grandeur. That's why the expectations are high.

Noel calling it great, praising Johnny Marr's playing on it, and Marr playing on it at all don't help either. I just try not to expect it to be better than anything on HFB - I'd be happy with a song as good as TDOYAM, Broken Arrow or Record Machine.

So afraid it's What A Life, Part 2... Nah, it's like Echo and The Bunnymen doing The Kinks on Peroni.
