Again, who is this Noel Gallagher that you speak of that has never written songs for the radio and where the fuck have you been hiding him all these years? This. SCYHO anyone? Hell, most of HC is formulaic writing written to the masses.

I want to revive the TDOYAM thread when it first came out and find the people who thought it just sounded the same as TIOBI and was a re-hash. How many people called it safe at the time.
Really funny seeing people call it him taking a chance.
Personally, just because something is radio friendly, doesn't necessarily mean it's safe. Especially, for Noel. In the Heat of the Moment is a real change of direction for him and that can be a chance in itself. He could have easily released another IIHAG and the talk around here would have been why he doesn't change his sound, why he doesn't chances by changing his sound. He keeps following the same big "chorus" formula.
People here wanted a change of sound, they wanted something heavier, and something up-tempo. Noel delivered exactly what many here had been asking for. Which makes the 180 turn by a lot on here funnier.

Perhaps the most damning thing I can say about ITHOTM is that it reminds my of Maroon 5. Especially the way Noel sings "pleaseee...", really reminds me of the vagina from Maroon 5. Doesn't Noel hate that band? He's sure doing his best to copy them. Now you're just trolling. Has anyone heard a Maroon 5 song? Look, back in the day I used to own some of their records. The two sound nothing alike. If you wanted something like Maroon 5 you wouldn't just do a simple double track vocal and sing "pleeeeaaasseee" over it. In that case, every time in the latter stages of Oasis they doubled tracked Liam's vocals to do "shiiiineeeee" it would be Maroon 5. If you wanted something like Maroon 5 the vocal would be crisper, the vocal wouldn't be overwhelmed by the music, and there would be a hell of a lot more vocal frills going underneath and over those "pleeeeaaassseeee." Yep. The two are exactly the same if you feel me.

The Maroon 5 reference is hilarious. ITHOTM doesn't sound like Maroon 5 AT ALL.
If we really want to be fussy, the Sardy-ed finished version of IIHAG is a lot more "Maroon 5" than ITHOTM...

'The Death Of You And Me' was actually the song that got me into Oasis so it will always have a special place in my heart. However, from a musical point of view I think 'Heat Of The Moment' beats it. 'TDOYAM' sounds too much like 'Being Idle' and isn't really anything different compared to the rest of the album, as much as I love it. 'Heat Of The Moment' sounds fresh, different and not like anything we've heard before really so it gets my vote on this one.

All I've ever heard by Maroon 5 is telephone. Noel sounds nothing like it. He don't even use autotune(i think?)

We saw glimpses in the past but nothing full on. I dig tracks like What A Life and In The Heat of The Moment. We all know Noel has a deep love for this type of music, probably from his Hacienda days. I'm excited he called his new album "eclectic". I hope it's all over the place in a good way. I love diversity.

Okay, wait a sec radio friendly doesn't mean shit, there a few bands/artists which are pretty famous and get constantly played on the radio, like Imagine Dragons, The 1975, One Republic, Coldplay, George Ezra etc. I don't know if you like them or not, but they're good ITHOTM sounds nothing like Maroon 5 and after all sounds nothing like the biggest part of what you heard on the radio, it's catchy as fuck and a bit "dancey", it's got the same vibe as What A Life, but that's it, it's still Noel fucking Gallagher

Hate to say this, but completely independently to 'Mr Metal', Maroon 5 was the first comparison I made too, within the first or second listen.
Still think it's a more than decent song though. With it being the first single, I can't see anything else on the album being this pop-like in nature.

The Death of You & Me is a better song, but In the Heat of the Moment is a better leadoff single, just for the appeal it has, while not going full-on pop. It still has the usual good NG instrumentation work on it, just structured differently, with a drum track.

I didn't really like TIOBI, I didn't particularly like TDOYAM, but I do like ITHOTM(other than the nanananas)

ITHOTM is too catchy and radio-friendly for my taste, while TDOYAM is a better structured and refined song.

The death of you and me is miles and miles better imo. I think the main reason people are voting ITHOTM atm is because its so new. Just like most of us gave BE a 9/10 when it was released

Liked TDOYAM better I think, but really like ITHOAM too. If the Nananas would've been replaces with a guitar solo with the same melody the song would be ace. Shame! Stilk good though. But where the hell have the guitar solos gone Noel??

"In the Heat" for me, "The Death of You and Me" was too similar to "Importance of Being Idle", I was so disappointed when I heard it that he had gone for safe.
I love In The heat Of The Moment, totally with Clint Boon, i was listening to his show and when he put it on again i let out a little cheer from the corner of my office. it is different, catchy and his voice sounds incredible.
he's even making some new fans as the girls in my office who don;t really know Noel and think of Oasis as an old "dad-rock" band love this song. I am so excited about the new album and tour!
