surely the helter skelter around the finger mean she has him "wrapped round her little finger" which he knows but "the ride" is so good he loves it .. clever lyrics i think. Yes but as Alex Turner is not a 'legend' his lyrics are boring and nonsensical. That's how many approach his lyrics.

Do you know that I questioned a lot of lyrics, but I never gave the lyrics to Some Might Say a second thought? You do know the saying having something on the brain right? I have heard it a few times but I'd always talk about having something on the mind, rather than the brain.

Now then Mardy Bum / I've seen your frown / And it's like looking down the barrel of a gun" "My days end best when the sunset gets itself behind/That little lady sitting on the passenger side /It's much less picturesque without her catching the light/The horizon tries but it's just not as kind on the eyes" And do you look into the mirror to remind yourself you're there Or has somebody's good night kisses got that covered Well, I'm not being honest I'll pretend that you were just some lover Now I can't think of there without thinking of you I doubt that comes as a surprise And I can't think of anything to dream about I can't find anywhere to hide

For me personally he lost it down the drug dealers as they say, his faux american/elvis accent ... selling out his music to try and cater for america (who don't care for his good lyrics), each album the band stylied beyond belief by the record company .. thats just the anti of where he came from..

Indeed. The way he's going, the words " You're not from New York City, you're from Rotherham/So get off the bandwagon, and put down the handbook", may soon come back to bite him on the keister.

The people have noticed that the times are changin it's just for now but not for good it's my feelings that i think you're draining take them now if you think you should
you want something for nothing the higher that you climb the longer you fall maybe your time is coming will you have to climb when you find the wall its a time to doubt its a time to wait will you be left alone at the starting gate i dont mind and i'm still fine cause i got time now i'm alive
...absolutely terrible, nonsensical, abstract lyrics but the song overall is brilliant. Even Liam would be ashamed at that sh!t. The same could be said for most early Oasis songs. I don't listen to Noel for profound messages so I have no problem with those lyrics. It's about the melody, tone and emotion with Noel's music, you shouldn't worry about the quality of the album based on those lyrics!

Indeed. The way he's going, the words " You're not from New York City, you're from Rotherham/So get off the bandwagon, and put down the handbook", may soon come back to bite him on the keister. His appearance has changed a lot over the years and this faux-Elvis thing is hopefully just a temporary thing. The hip dance thing he does live is fucking silly as well.

That's like a parody! Fucking hell.

"Here come old flattop He come groovin' up slowly He got joo-joo eyeball He one holy roller He got hair down to his knees Got to be a joker He just do what he please
He wear no shoeshine He got toe jam football He got monkey finger He shoot Coca Cola He say I know you, you know me One thing I can tell you is You got to be free"
Let's not pretend those lyrics don't read like the worst shit ever if you're not looking at the awesome melody.

I, as a person who can't shut her mouth, literally yelled "WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT, THIS IS RETARDED, HE LOOKS LIKE A DOUCHEBAG DOING THAT" when I saw them live and he did that. I was surrounded by hipster teens who looked as if they couldn't wait to kill me.

Me personally I don't think those lyrics are shitty at all, I've always liked them They're not shitty considering what artist they came from, in the same way Allison's quoted Chasing Yesterday lyrics aren't shitty considering they're from Noel. I enjoy that type of abstract lyrics as well, my point is Noel's lyrics always make sense within his songs. If someone posted those lyrics as say, The Mexican's lyrics, they'd get torn to shreds on here for making no sense and being incredibly simple

Actually, since DOYS's worst moments were penned by LAG, and this is 1997 we're talking, it would've had a fighting shot. Gotta remember that Noel had RM and COIA, which are all really good, and STC, which would've been brilliantly executed by 1997-era Oasis imo. I love Be Here Now! I think it is their third best album by a comfortable margin. I think if Noel had let Standing on the Shoulders to brew a bit longer - maybe a year or more - he could have come up with an excellent album. But, alas, what we got with that album was a mere snapshot of what could have been a potentially brilliant album but ruined by a clutch of terrible songs. The same goes for every album they made after this sadly. While I agree with you that SOTSOG was a hop, a skip, and a few new songs away from being a great album, I think it could've been a great album with just a couple changes. Replacing PYMWYMI, LJ, and SMC with FO, LAMB, and OWR, and then placing I Can See a Liar in a better place would've done that imo.

These lyrics sound rather interesting to me. I'm excited to see how it sounds when it's put to music, and if Noel's experimenting is going to finally work out fully this time.

so, the last 3 are: - While the Song Remains the Same - Dying of the Light - Lock All the Doors (?) Why couldn't the 'take me back to the town where I was born' one be 'You Know We Can't Go Back? it could be. but from everything we've heard so far, that Noel's written the song after visiting Manchester and realizing everything's changed since his days, my guess it's While the Song Remains the Same.

Noel's songs are books and lyrics are the covers.
