My 2007 MacBook Pro feels like it is close to death. What do people recommend? The new MacBook or the new MacBook Air. I only really use my computer to check email, watch movies, listen to music and banter with you guys. Thoughts? If thats all you use it for I'd buy the air. It starts $400 cheaper. Id only recommend the new Macbook for someone that did a lot of traveling on airplanes and had the extra $$. Plus its a first generation product. Their first fan less laptop. Id make sure they dont overheat.

The new Apple Watch seems cool by the looks of the commercial, but, I don't like square watches, so... God bless. If I wore watches I wouldnt buy one of them, seems like a luxury gadget that will have such a small niche(and someone would rob me if I had one as well). I want one. I know I dont need one though. $399 for the cheapest man sized version is crazy too. I mostly want it to check texts while I'm at work. I work with patients so it would be easier just to glance at my watch. I could get a Pebble but they are hideous. Id wear a Moto 360 which is round so Let It Bleed would like it but its only android compatible.

I work in IT field and I use my phone a ton. My co-workers and I use Google Hangouts all the time and I can't imagine trying to message on that watch

I have a kid with special needs so when I get texts I need to see them. I'd prefer not to pull my phone out because it's unprofessional. Most likely I wouldn't be replying from the watch but I could dismiss the notification. If I needed to I could set up a quick reply though. On iOS it always notifies you twice when you have a text. Plus I never feel my phone when it's on vibrate in my pocket but I'm certain I'd feel it on my wrist. I'm not buying it anyways because I'm broke and I don't like to buy first gen products. However next year if the price comes down a little I'd probably buy one.

I agree that looking at a watch is more professional looking than pulling out a phone. I'm always making an excuse at work to take my pocketbook to the bathroom or go in the desk where I keep my phone.

I just have mine on total silence. The vibrate just freaks me out, both hearing and feeling it. I usually scream whenever someone puts even a finger on me too.

Would it make sense to just get one of those $300 Lenovo laptops with 500GB, pimp it out with all my music, videos and pictures, then go full force with my iPad mini and iPhone 6?
I mainly just use my MacBook pro these days for basic tasks and spend an incredible amount of time on my iPad mini since I got it last July.

If you get a cheap(ish) laptop then I would suggest putting a Linux distro on it.

I think I decided to get the new MacBook. Haven't bought a new computer since 2007 (MacBook Pro). Might as well go all in and get the most up to date model and portability.

Knowing me, I'd destroy it within a month getting it caught on something like a door.

Knowing me, I'd destroy it within a month getting it caught on something like a door. $1100 for a digital watch. Now who would buy that?

$1100 for a digital watch. Now who would buy that? People who spend that kind of money on real watches. Seriously crazy how many apps are updated for it already.

The problem is most of them arent native apps. Having to pull the information and waiting for it to load from the phone makes the user experience less appealing. Im sure the next model will have gps built in but they definitely wont have cellular capabilities.

The Native app SDK is coming this year so that should eliviate any minor niggles. Tbh 95% of the times apps are pretty instant but that 5% they aren't is a little annoying. Its a great product, obv generation 2 will be much better. Thats the same as any brand new product, the natures of tech / moore's law etc.

The more I see articles on it the more I want one. I still don't need one or have the money for one but my love for gadgets is driving me crazy. Any issues with the taptic engine? They appear to be more water resistant than Apple publicized.

The Taptic engine is cool, I've had no problems tbh, it feels cool when you get a notification. I've seen pics of the watch fully submerged, people swimming etc sure apple just covering their backs just incase. I've not had mine near water except hand washing tho. It's defo not a needed device. but is a great addition. I've already stopped looking at my phone as much. Just getting the little tap and raising you wrist to see notifiactions/ phone calls etc is very cool /useful .. and Runeblade has randomly addicted me :/ There's lots of little things that i like and defo gonna keep it..( for about 10 months then will be on ebay ready for g2 )

Confirmed 512MB of RAM. Not bad, of course people are going to bitch about it as always.

512MB for a watch? That seems like more than enough. What do people actually expect do on their watches?
