Thom Yorke, from a 1996 issue of Dazed: "We did a show in Los Angeles. It's a Christmas radio show; they have these every year and everybody does it who wants to be liked by the radio station that year, and we did it. And we thought we were going to hate it, but we turned up and everybody there, like Lenny Kravitz and people like Oasis, were talking to us and saying: 'Hi, you know, I really liked that song' or something, and you're going, 'Er, thanks very much'. And that was great, and it was like being at your own birthday party, but you don't know anybody, but they know it's your birthday and I don't know. No, that's bullshit. Anyway, it got a bit out of hand because all the people there--except for a few like Oasis and Lenny Kravitz who we have respect for--were just fucking clinging on, you know? And they got this crazy look in their eye, and apparently a lot of them were on coke. I didn't know that; they said it 's the coke paranoia thing."
Didn't know the guys out of Radiohead/Thom ever had anything like respect for Oasis. Even if it didn't last it's nice to know all the same.

Like ever. No idea why Noel took aim at them in the early 2000s. Perhaps it was jealousy that Radiohead still go excellent reviews and sales meanwhile Oasis kept slipping. Thom will only respond if attacked first.

This isn't correct, Thom once mocked Oasis with that Wonderwall cover for a Radio station, but before that Noel liked them, went to their gigs and wanted to meet Thom, but Thom did what he did, snubbed them and things went awry with each other, but also both have totally different personalities they wouldn't get on well with each other I guess.

If I remember correctly it was done in jest, like the pavement cover. Still didn’t stop Noel and Liam seeing Radiohead multiple times on their USA tour in 1997. That cover was from 1996. Big difference from the nasty comments made post 2000. Just so random and unfounded. Unless you count jealousy.

The difference is that Pavement were big Oasis fans, Thom Was Just a snobbish mocking them, and I bet Noel only knew about that only years later, but as I have said before both would never get on well with each other, totally different personalities, unlike Noel and Damon who used to stab themselves in the press but became friends later on.

This entire Yorke solo tour has baffled me. He sandwiched it between legs of the 2018 Radiohead tour. He's been teasing new lyrics and songs live all year. Why go on a dozen tour dates between Radiohead commitments if you aren't promoting an album of some sort? He's also doing the soundtrack for a horror thriller later this year.

I was listening to The Writer's Block the other day, David Fricke's show on Sirius XM.....he plays all kinds of music, and you'd be hard pressed to find some one with more musical knowledge than him. Anyway, on his last show he played a song by a band called Spirit and the beginning of the song was a Radiohead song, I wasn't playing close attention, don't remember the Spirit song or which Radiohead song uses it, it may've been 'Airbag', not sure.....does anyone know of this? Spirit was a band from the 60's or 70's..... At the end of David Fricke's show he played 'Exit Music (For A Film)' live from the Hammerstein Ballroom in 1997 and he said it was the encore.... Lennon2217 was probably there. Thanks.

The Writer's Block with David Fricke is on channel 28 The Spectrum..... Líam was on the Writer's Block last year and they played Bold before the album was released, possibly its first airing..... The Sirius XM Spectrum Facebook page normally puts up David Fricke's Writer's Block playlists.....this particular show isn't up yet, though. God bless.

Oasis fans who dismiss bands like Radiohead because they’re “not working class enough” like it’s still 1996 really bug me. I can’t believe I still encounter people like that in 2018
