Thom played two new songs last night in Oakland. I’m A Very Rude Person and Saturdays. Maybe new solo album coming up?

This song is so achingly gorgeous.
Shows again (as if anybody needed reminding) what a talented vocalist Thom Yorke is. With that chorus he manages to convey so much emotion through his vocal that, although I don't really know what he means when he says his "pot is full of secrets to be told," you can well imagine the kind of mindset he must have been in when he wrote it.

No doubt should have been on TKOL. I'd put These Are My Twisted Words on there too, although The Butcher is also excellent. My playlist: 1) Bloom 2) Morning Mr Magpie 3) Staircase 4) There Are My Twisted Words 5) Lotus Flower 6) Codex 7) Give up the Ghost 8) Separator

Weren't it after King of Limbs had already been released? Would've been nice though. I've only listened to that album through twice, so I've not had time to generate an opinion either for or against it yet, but I'm sure it would've benefitted from Staircase's inclusion. There's just something magic about that recording, for me.

There's just something magic about that recording, for me. They recorded it in July 2011, 5 months after TKOL had been released. Performed the album in its entirety, The Daily Mail, Staircase, and Supercollider. And I agree, the From the Basement performance of TKOL is magical. There's energy and life in those performances that was somehow lost in the studio versions. But most of all, I love the synergy between all five members, playing so tightly that you'd be forgiven for thinking that this was jazz rather than rock, and how their individual performances just gel together as if they're operating as a single unit in a way that only happens in live performances. I once read an article about how that kind of tight band playing doesn't come from nowhere. It comes from endless gigging together onstage, usually in the band's early days, and letting the individual band members come together from shared experience of having to work tirelessly promoting themselves, performing for drunken and rowdy audiences in shitty bars. Think The Beatles in Hamburg. If you hear any band that operates as one in performances, you'll know where it comes from.

Better separation of sounds. Don't feel the need to include Twisted Words on King of Limbs. That song was from almost 2 years prior. Feels like its in a place between In Rainbows and King of Limbs. Better as a one off. Overall The King of Limbs felt like a minor work after a glorious release of In Rainbows, their 4th masterpiece. So many of us were convinced they had to have a quick follow up behind it. That never materialized. To get 8 tracks after almost 4 years seemed weak.

That never materialized. To get 8 tracks after almost 4 years seemed weak. The album's A-side just doesn't work at all in terms of flow and quality. Especially Magpie, which is just subpar. However, I think the B-side is pure brilliance. The sequence of Lotus Flower>Codex>Give Up the Ghost>Separator flows so beautifully.

With Radiohead, you need to turn the radio off to save your head from their awful sound.

Like our Liam, Thom's sometimes tweeted lyrics out prior to the songs they come from being released, an't he? Maybe that's what's going on with the first three tweets.

They put the Moon Shaped Pool campaign to bed last summer. This is a rather huge arena tour to make just for shits and giggles. Could it be a warm up tour for new album like in 1999/2000 and 2006? Maybe. Something is happening and we are always going to be the last to know. Wake up one morning and BOOM new album. ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png)

I haven't heard any of that stuff, so I can't comment, but how would you feel about more of that instead of Radiohead, Lennon? I can't see how Radiohead could possibly have had the time to cook up another album since 2016, what with all Jonny's film scores and Phil Selway doing something, and Ed (supposedly) working on a solo album. But maybe the time it took them to make A Moon Shaped Pool, along with the age of some of that material, has inspired them to be a bit more spontaneous this time...

Well Thom is working on new solo material. He’s confirmed that. He’s also doing a film score for a horror film. Both TBD. Jonny obviously has a million fires burning constantly. Phil just released his new solo album / film soundtrack and Ed is recording his debut solo album currently. Having that all been said they wouldn’t go to such touring lengths in 2018 if something radiohead related wasn’t in the works. They seem to be in a great place and have given us two amazing projects the last two years with MOON and Ok Computer. Thom spoke just last year about wanting to record again with everyone in the same room again. Less editing and bang it out. Maybe that transpired over the last year. Plus they probably have a bunch of leftovers from MOON sessions. Plenty were road tested in 2012.
