Also, my best friend's nephew's wife's niece's distant cousin's sister's husband's cat's former owner's boss's girlfriend's brother's kid just told me Noel is wearing black socks today. That must mean a reunion is imminent.

That sounds completely like it was written based off rumors on this forum. We have seen this happen in the past before. Comes off lame and fake journalism.

That's Tales from The Mighty I tumblr blog btw Well, not to add fuel to any fire but I'm not quoting any of you, am I? I put hours upon hours to be called "lame" and "fake"? Hell no. I contacted and had a chat with hasseg, and he seems to be pretty confident about his source, says he knows the fellow well enough to let me have a few words with him. Though, some of you wave it off and say 'fake, next line' and a bunch of other things--hey, what do ya'll know?... If anything, the forum shouldn't take any credit as well. @hfpâ„¢ and hasseg can take this. I only wrote it so others would know. And as far as my blog is concerned, if anybody is going to call anybody else "fake" or "lame" or call-out anyone else, call out the guy who broke the news to some of his friends. But please, don't butcher my blog or anybody else BUT the source. Like hell I wanna be pushed around on here... geez.

It actually kinda was like that. There was radio silence from his camp for a long time...than BOOM, single announcement and press conference. Someone posted on facebook, that they were doing the music video for TDOYAM two months before it was released and one month before it was announced. It's information like this that should be surfacing at this point if a new single is being released next month. Didn't Brian Cannon put something on Facebook a few months ago about recording a video (with a picture of the Peak District or similar area I think). Given he is working on the album artwork he could have been working on a Noel video as well? Just speculating.

I know the area very well - if they were filming something, would word not have got out? Or perhaps Noel isn't in the video? Or perhaps it wasn't a video! Though the small rural communities in the Lake District don't tend to make much fuss out of things like this - pretty sure many of them wouldn't recognise Noel perhaps.

It's still possible if they announce/debut in the next couple weeks. And the single goes on sale in mid to late October. There is more than enough time to have a tune debut and play for 4 weeks in time for a single release in late October This isn't 2005 anymore, if you are going to release something you need to do is release the song as it has been played on the radio, if not there are going to be people that are going to pirate it just to have it and then wont buy the whole thing(single). True. But I have a hard time believing that Noel would release to radio and to sale at the same time. It's possible. Not probable in my opinion. I think he's still old school enough that he's have it on radio for at least a few weeks before it goes on sale. Noel isn't a standard artist. His demographic thrives on physical releases which isn't the case for the majority of pop. In which case a few weeks of presales would probably help.

And the post was removed immediately from what I remember. It was good sleuthing but it was just lucky they posted that in advance. And I'm sure the new company was specifically asked to keep it on the DL if they wanted to keep the album quiet until the official announcement.

For singles, no. 95% of people who will buy a physical copy of the next Noel Gallagher single will be pre-existing fans who will do so anyway. For everyone else, it's worth making the product available to purchase as soon as possible. Noel's last 3 singles didn't even make the top 40 - singles are just important for exposure these days, the days of Oasis/Noel going for the top 10 are long gone. So I don't see the point in some carefully planned drip-feed until release date. As soon as it's on the radio/online, it should be available to buy.

Well we saw the bump up WAL got when the physical release happened several weeks after the digital. Sales from 6000 to 15000. That week WAL charted about 20 places above his average iTunes position through that week which I would suspect is a result of the physical sales and preorders being counted. And looking at the success of the singles in the year end vinyl charts although they weren't even close to being some of the most popular songs of the year means to me that the Gallagher's fanbase have a healthier than average taste for physical releases. TDOYAM was #15 and WAL #20 (with a staggered physical/digital release) and a repeals to #24 and sold more than quite a few latter year Oasis top 10's I don't think tops 10's are out of Noel's reach when it comes to lead singles. After album single maybe...but not lead singles. In the event that there is an October single...why shouldn't he aim for a top 10? It's totally within grasp

What A Life was Noel's best selling single since The Importance of Being Idle (counting all Oasis singles), so he said.
Helped due to being used in adverts, video games, TV trailers etc (likewise Everybody's On The Run) - apparently, this is where artists make a name for themselves rather than the radio where they won't get played (in Noel's case Radio 1). It also boosts album sales. Though Noel - even at 47 - still maintains a young fanbase (many young folk were at his gig in Glasgow when I saw him), which is why I don't understand him not being on Radio 1.
I wouldn't be surprised if Noel was looking at a similar single with an upbeat tune to sell to companies. Very sad big acts like him have to resort to that method and aren't given a chance on mainstream radio (I can guarantee even U2 will use it for their next album), but if it works and spreads his music around, then I'm all for it.

To which my point is that it doesn't matter when the digital release is, and it should be sooner rather than later. Personally, I'd be surprised if NGHFB 2 sold even half of the first album. Not because of any faults with the music, I just think that post-Oasis bump and the long awaited Noel Gallagher solo album effect has been and gone.

One thing is sure: by now Noel must have enough songs to release 3 new albums. Quantity is not a problem. The thing is, has he been writing songs automatically, like penning generic-gallagheresque-stripped-down-acoustic-and-soft songs while sitting in a stool at home? Or rather, experimenting out loud with proper time and inspiration?
My point is, I find it difficult to believe that great songs and epic choruses and killing lead guitar can come from a living room while taking care of some kids.
Honestly, NGHFB didn't make it in my playlist that much after the initial hype...
