We found out during his press conference which was July 6th. The single was not officially released until August 21st. The music video for it was published July 25th. Which fits in line with a typical single time-line. Announcement, then then two weeks before the first play, then three weeks until a physical release.
So essentially, we'll get an announcement somewhere between next week and mid-October to fit in with the October/November release time frame already given to us.

Would also, suspect we won't hear anything for another week or two. Especially considering, the official release date for the single may be in November. Take out three to four weeks for airplay (that's assuming the very beginning of November, we may not have an announcement until mid-October possibly. So it will be about 2-3 weeks until we hear something. Nooo. Please just lie to us and tell us it will be out tomorrow or early next week or something.

I don't know if it is all the binge watching television shows/spotifying I've done over the past few years, but I can't bear the thought or getting a single one month, waiting a month or two, getting another single and then waiting a couple of months for the whole album. Just give us all the shit at once! We're addicts!!! Noel doesn't have the balls to do that. He's still stuck in 1965 release patterns. He doesn't have the balls of steel bands like Radiohead and U2 have.

The new single is called 'Tyrion's Soul Song'. Noel is apparently a big fan of Game of Thrones. The b-side will be called '(Bleeding Out) On The Shitter'.

To release an album so suddenly.....yeah...that counts. This band was notorious for taking years and years to release anything and always playing up the press and promoting the shit out of it before it dropped. This was different. Better than Noel releasing a single to the radio (dated idea), waiting 2-3 weeks before it goes on sale (dated idea) and watching it suffer in the charts (reality of the situation).

Yeah he thinks that will help hype the single up I think, while the reality is that people will listen to it, download it and will be tired of it before it comes out. We're living in 2014, single sales are suffering.

I don't know why but i like the oldschool idea of single promoting the album first, before the full release.

I don't know why but i like the oldschool idea of single promoting the album first, before the full release. It sounds romantic indeed but that isn't the reality we live in anymore. This is a instant gratification society. Everybody wants everything at a moments notice. Artists/bands have to adapt or suffer the consequences.

Let's remember one good thing about Noel's "old fashioned" approach to releases: He still believes in lots of quality B-sides!
I wonder if Miley Cyrus or Pharrell has ever even heard of what a B-side is..

There are songs that just are a perfect first singles you know. They come out of nowhere and all they supposed to do is to say " I'm back ". They build a mood around the album, they make you guess, they still make you more excited for the thing that's coming even if you hear them just on fuckin' soundcloud or whatever. It's not all about charts and sales i think. Never really was.
I hate the idea of putting a full new album on a webiste for free. Anytime this happens it makes me don't want to listen to it. It's like, if they do it why don't they put every single song they write and record sometime in the year and just go and post it on facebook and go: "Here, here, here. Take it, we're already bored."

Well Radiohead did that with In Rainbows and it is one of my favorite album of theirs and contains many of my favorite songs from the band. Great release idea, great album, great band. Your move Noely G.....

Probably their biggest critical and commercial success of the 2000's next to Kid A.

If Noely G still believes in quality b-sdies, where were they last time, and how come he didn't write any for DBTT or DOYS? Then again, Alone On A Rope was an inspired piece of work whatever that ended up being (free download? iTunes bonus track?)

This is a good point actually, after HC Noel only ever wrote two more B-side with Oasis (Those Swolen Hand Blues / Sittin Here In Silence). Although we did get WPTWOTWOMS and Can Y'See It Now during DBTT. Horrible when you think during DM / MG we were getting about an albums worth of B-sides per album! I'd be happy with 17 songs from this new album cycle, but I'm hoping Noel really treats us and gets rid of a load of the songs he's sitting on at th moment
