Why because he's releasing a song that you've heard which you weren't supposed to? If that disappoints you then it's entirely your own fault. Sorry.

I think The Dying Of The Light could actually do well as a single

Oh I know that, obviously there's no guarantee that The Dying of the Light is the first single I was just speaking as if it were and my point still stands. If he releases it and people are upset because they've already heard it then it's their own fault and can't blame anyone but themselves.

I think The Dying Of The Light could actually do well as a single This might be blasphemy but I kinda just think the song is alright. Nothing special but typical Noel style acoustic song. I had the same feelings about "If I Had A Gun...". That turned out just to be ok despite many thinking it was the second coming of "Wonderwall" or something to that effect. I'd much rather prefer songs that explore the sonic territory "AKA...What A Life!" covered. Then again, I'm the type of guy that wanted the AA album over HFB. We shall see.

Yeah I don't think The Dying Of The Light is that special either, and if this will be on the album AND Sardy will produce and mix it, then it will be even more meh. Like I said before, he even has the talent to make awesome songs sound dull, like If I Had A Gun, which is actually a great song.

Let's be honest, Dave Sardy sucks.

Yeah I'd either love an album that goes in more of the direction of songs like What a Life or something really stripped back and acoustic. Hopefully he will find a balance

He could always release a single in October that doesn't actually appear on the album?

Wasn't there a post the other week from someone saying they saw someone say on Instagram they were playing on Noel's new EP? EP being totally different than an LP, of course. Although I don't think Noel would release a non-album single when the album itself is finished and complete.

Well it better be an album, if it will be out in March 2015. Getting just an EP after 3 and a half years would suck.

If he releases it and people are upset because they've already heard it then it's their own fault and can't blame anyone but themselves. I think any upset will arise if we all hear it after poring over the brilliant demo for over a year now and it's a bland, over-produed irritant, à la If I Had A Gun... If that's the case, I think I WILL be able to find someone to blame for my personal upset...

Hopefully he will find a balance I'd love something stripped back too - stripped back of all Sardy's production that is - and replaced with someone young and interesting who can put a decent drum track together

You'd have to be living under a rock or not very much interested in Noel's music to have not heard it by now. Would you prefer a song that's already been making it's way around the internet for years now, or brand new material for a single? I might be crazy in saying this, but generally I think most would choose the latter.

I guess that won't be the first single cause Noel knows we know it... That's what I'm hoping. Everybody gets to hear something new that way. I mean, I'd be happy with whatever we get, but I'm just speaking in terms of what I think would be the best route. For instance, The Death of You And Me was a good first single choice as it was new and refreshing to all ears.

I'm expecting and hoping for Death Of You And Me kind of single. Very good choice back then to put it instead of If I Had A Gun as a first single. Also probably the best song on HFB in my opinion.
As to the Dying Of The Light i don't want that song to be on the album. Very average, 50th interpretation of Wonderwall chords progression, not fresh at all, just doesn't have that thing that makes you want to listen to a song again. I'm pretty sure Noel can write thousands of songs like that everyday. Nothing impressing, miserable lyrics about getting old. No need for that.

I might be the only one who's not too bothered...
Not that I don't care. It is exciting to hear things may be coming our way. But I've got enough to keep me excited for now with the Chasing the Sun material. That's a lot of stuff to enjoy, given the lovely hardback books and new tracks, records, etc. We've still got to receive MG and then wait for the exciting details on BHN. So I'm quite okay with just enjoying those things. Certainly spent enough on them, want to be able to fully make the most of them.
So I've got enough to keep me satisfied at the moment. I think I'd be more crazy about this hypothetical deadline if there was a total lack of anything new, which has happened before.

But I would be skeptical to someone claiming most fans haven't heard it yet. But even so, lets pretend the majority of the fanbase hasn't heard it. Why decide to choose a song that some have heard? For the ones that haven't heard the song, whether they get TDOTL or something else entirely, it will be new to them, so it makes little difference. It stands to reason that the better choice would be one that no one in the fanbase has heard, so that everybody's happy.
