No news at all right now, why not start an useless thread. If you had to start your record collection over, what would be the first 5 albums you'd buy?

Just five? It'd be hard to narrow it down 25, if we are taking about essential. Maybe raise the limit to ten?

I was downloading music all my life and now i have started to buy records. And first i want to buy all Beatles and Stones records as some basic and then to experiment. I find that as the best way.

Beter late than never. There's a lot more than only music in an album - liner notes and artwork belong to an album as well.

Oasis - Definitely Maybe The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses A Rush of Blood to the Head - Coldplay
There Is Nothing Left to Lose - Foo Fighters Aha Shake Heartbreak - Kings of LeonProbably my favorite albums from both bands. Man Kings of Leon use to be so dangerous and rock hard. They are a shell of their former selves in my opinion. Those first two albums are legit.

Great music is always there if you open your ears and eyes. I'm always hungry for good, new music, so this Rock N Roll Star board of this forum is kind of home to me.
It's tough to pick only 5, but these 5 are unreplaceable for me:
Hatfull Of Hollow - The Smiths Setting Sons - The Jam The Queen Is Dead - The Smiths The La's - The La's Fourteen Winters and Fifteen Autumn - The Twilight Sad
I'm making more than 5 as I just can't pick only 5!
The Midnight Organ Fight - Frightened Rabbit Until The Earth Begins To Part - Broken Records Boxer - The National Horses - Patti Smith The Greatest - Cat Power Erland and The Carnival - Erland and The Carnival The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses Definitely Maybe - Oasis Urban Hymns - The Verve
My list goes on...

Ten years gone is a track nobody talks about. I think it's side 3 on physical. There is not a song that can touch that

These are the first five that came at the top of my head. Honestly you could swapped WTSMG with DM and I prefer Revolver to Rubber Soul but today feels more like a Rubber Soul kinda day.
Without a doubt these top 5 (or Top 7 if you count DM/Revolver ) records would make my top ten list.
1. Oasis - (What's The Story?) Morning Glory 2. The Beatles -Rubber Soul 3. The Avalanches - Since I Left You 4. The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico 5. Pavement - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain
Here are 10 or so more.
Best Coast - Crazy for You Beach House - Teen Dream Wilco - Summerteeth Cat Power - You are Free (The Greatest comes a very close second) The Exploding Hearts - Guitar Romantic The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin Smith Westerns - Dye It Blonde Weezer - Pinkerton Television - Marquee Moon The Strokes - Is This It The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Electric Lady Land Ryan Adams - Heartbreaker Marvin Gaye - Let's Get it On
I'll stop could go on and on. Left out some albums that are better/more diverse with regard genre because most of these are guitar based, but these are albums that have been in my regular rotation for years.
If we did a "desert island" scenario my list would be slightly different.

Haven't heard it tbh. I need to listen to more albums no doubt, I couldn't even attempt that best 5 albums from the last 5 decades thread on here a while back. It'd just be embarrassing. For too long I was much the same as a poster above, just hand picking songs to download that immediately stuck in my head. Only in the last few years have I started to listen to albums through, but I'll give it a go if you recommend. It's through being inspired by your love of led zep that I got into them and now I'm digging there back catalogue along with The Smiths so once I've played them both I'll probably go onto something new

But the rest so subjective to moment I'm surprised so many people say Led Zeppelin IV is their best album. I was shocked by how good Physical was when I heard it because I'd not heard much hype about it. Custard Pie, The Rover, Houses Of The Holy, Trampled Under Foot, Kashmir, In The Light, Down By The Seaside, Ten Years Gone, The Wanton Song... So many tunes... And despite what some people say, Plant's vocals were still shit hot. I know some of the tracks were recorded a few years previously but throughout the album his vocals are top notch

It's not there best by people that actually know .. Physical is there best. 4 there most commercial.
